Multi-Objective RANS Aerodynamic Optimization of a Hypersonic Intake Ramp at Mach 5
The work describes a systematic optimization strategy for designing hypersonic inlet intakes. A Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes database is mined using genetic algorithms to develop ideal designs for a priori defined targets.

Assessing the Performance of Hypersonic Inlets by Applying a Heat Source with the Throttling Effect
Utilization of a heat source to regulate the shock wave–boundary layer interaction (SWBLI) of hypersonic inlets during throttling was computationally investigated. A plug was installed at the intake isolator’s exit, which caused throttling.

Analysis of S-duct's fluid-solid-thermal coupling characteristic considering creep effect
For the hypersonic vehicle whose inlet and combustion chamber are not on the same axis, the S-duct is an important component, and its main function is to turn the air flow. In order to study the influence of multi-field coupling effect of creep material on

A numerical investigation using 3D RANS simulations demonstrates significant effects of protuberance geometry—cubic, cylindrical, spherical, and conical—on shock‐induced thrust vectoring in supersonic nozzles. Cubic protuberances provide the maximum jet deflection (˜2°) with negligible thrust reduction.

Theoretical model of driving force for variable geometry hypersonic inlet based on principle of virtual work [PDF]
To enable hypersonic inlets to operate across a wide Mach number range, the geometric configuration of the inlet must be adjusted. The magnitude of the driving force required to actuate these geometric changes is fundamental to the design of the inlet ...

This research explores how fluid flow, structural movement, and sound interact in an elastic baffle system. Using a numerical approach based on the finite element method, the study analyzes how noise and vibrations change with different baffle configurations. The findings reveal that shortening the baffle by half reduces noise transmission by 9%, while

ABSTRACT Composite materials hold significant potential for abrasive sealing, yet composite materials used for abrasive sealing fall short in service durability under extreme environments. Here, a controllable strategy for adjusting pore structure is proposed, aiming to design a YSZ(ESP)/BN@ZrO2‐polyester coating with hybrid micron/nanometer ...

Control Effectiveness of Vortex Generators in High‐Speed Flows in Off‐Design Conditions
ABSTRACT In aerospace transportation and propulsion systems, shock‐induced flow separation has strong detrimental effects on the aerodynamic behavior and performance. To alleviate these effects, separation control is necessary. A commonly pursued approach uses vortex generators (VG) of different design to increase the momentum transfer within the ...
