Arterial stiffness for the early prediction of pre‐eclampsia compared with blood pressure, uterine artery Doppler and angiogenic biomarkers: a prospective cohort study

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 130, Issue 8, Page 932-940, July 2023., 2023
Abstract Objective Our aim was to evaluate the ability of arterial stiffness parameters to predict pre‐eclampsia early compared with peripheral blood pressure, uterine artery Doppler and established angiogenic biomarkers. Design Prospective cohort study. Setting Tertiary care antenatal clinics in Montreal, Canada.

Neonatal hyperoxia leads to white adipose tissue remodeling and susceptibility to hypercaloric diet

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 11, Issue 13, July 2023., 2023
Abstract Individuals born preterm are at higher risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases in adulthood, through mechanisms not completely understood. White adipose tissue in humans and rodents is a dynamic endocrine organ and a critical player in the regulation of metabolic homeostasis.

Cerebral blood flow pulsatility and cerebral artery stiffness acutely decrease during hemodialysis

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 11, Issue 4, February 2023., 2023
This study assesses changes in cerebral blood velocity and regional arterial stiffness during hemodialysis. It shows an acute reduction of mean and pulsatile components of cerebral blood velocity, along with a reduction in the stiffness of arteries supplying the middle cerebral artery.

Thiazide Diuretics and Fracture Risk: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials

open access: yesJBMR Plus, Volume 6, Issue 11, November 2022., 2022
ABSTRACT Thiazide diuretics are commonly used antihypertensive agents. Until today, whether their use reduces fracture risk remains unclear. Electrocardiography in Hypertensive Patients without Cardiovascular Events: A Valuable Predictor Tool?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Hypertension, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Background. Hypertension is an important risk factor of cardiovascular (CV) disease. An early diagnosis of target organ damage could prevent major CV events. Electrocardiography (ECG) is a valuable clinical technique, with wide availability and high specificity, used in evaluation of hypertensive patients. However, the use of ECG as a predictor tool is
