Management of hypertriglyceridemia
BMJ, 2020AbstractHypertriglyceridemia is one of the most common lipid abnormalities encountered in clinical practice. Many monogenic disorders causing severe hypertriglyceridemia have been identified, but in most patients triglyceride elevations result from a combination of multiple genetic variations with small effects and environmental factors.

The American Journal of The Medical Sciences, 1975
The conference opened with the clinical presentation of a 50-year-old male with fasting hyperglycemia (296 mg per cent) and hypertriglyceridemia (2736 mg per cent). The discussion began with a summary of current concepts regarding the manner in which chylomicra (intestine) and very low density lipoproteins (intestine and liver) are formed, transported ...

Management of Hypertriglyceridemia [PDF]
While the rationale for the treatment of elevated cholesterol, especially elevated lowdensity lipoprotein (LDL), has been established, the relationship between hypertriglyceridemia and cardiac risk remains obscure. Suggestive data are available, however, and have prompted national recommendations to reduce triglycerides (TGs) in patients with elevated ...

The Nurse Practitioner, 2018
Abstract: Elevated triglycerides are independently associated with increased atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk. Hypertriglyceridemia is often a polygenic condition that can be affected by numerous interventions. Primary care NPs are well positioned to appropriately evaluate and manage hypertriglyceridemia, improving overall health ...

Inherited lipodystrophies and hypertriglyceridemia
Current Opinion in Lipidology, 2009Inherited lipodystrophies are rare autosomal recessive and dominant disorders characterized by selective, but variable, loss of adipose tissue. Marked hypertriglyceridemia is a common feature of these disorders and highlights the role of adipose tissue in lipid homeostasis.

Primary Hypertriglyceridemia in Childhood
Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1983Five of six children with severe familial primary hypertriglyceridemia in the first three to five years of life had what we believe is a new clinical feature, intermittent swelling of the limbs and scrotum. This was associated with higher levels of plasma triglyceride (greater than 2,000 mg/dL) and, in some instances, venous stasis of the affected part.

Hypertriglyceridemia: Impact and Treatment [PDF]
The treatment of elevated levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol is standard medical practice supported by conclusive outcome data. Less definitive information exists for hypertriglyceridemia. Only in the setting of severe hyperchylomicronemia is the benefit of triglyceride lowering clear: it is a means to reduce the risk of pancreatitis.

Reaching hypertriglyceridemia goals
Current Medical Research and Opinion, 2013In the January issue of the journal Pinto et al.1 report the achievement of fasting triglyceride (TG) target values (≤2.2 mmol/L; 200 mg/dL) in patients (n = 929) attending lipid clinics of the Spa...
