Using water, light, air and spirulina to access a wide variety of polyoxygenated compounds [PDF]
A new set of completely green methods utilising air, light, water and spirulina to transform readily accessible furan substrates into a diverse range of synthetically useful polyoxygenated motifs commonly found in natural products is presented ...

Lewis Acid Properties of Tetrel Tetrafluorides—The Coincidence of the -Hole Concept with the QTAIM Approach [PDF]
Tetrel bond is analysed for a series of ZF(4) (Z = C, Si, Ge) complexes with one and two NH3 or AsH3 ligands. The MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ calculations were performed and supported by results of the Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules (QTAIM) and the Natural ...

Bromostibine complexes of iron(II): hypervalency and reactivity
The halostibine complexes [CpFe(CO)2(SbMe2Br)][CF3SO3] and [CpFe(CO)2(SbMe2Br)][BF4] both contain significant interactions between the anion and the formally neutral Sb(III) ligand, which simultaneously displays Lewis acidic and Lewis basic properties ...

Reduction of hypervalent iodine by coordination to iron(iii) and the crystal structures of PhIO and PhIO2 [PDF]
Iodine L3-edge XANES spectra using reference compounds with formal iodine oxidation states spanning −1 to +7 show that iodine in an Fe(iii) coordinated iodosylbenzene (PhIO) is reduced compared to parent hypervalent PhIO which has been structurally ...

Attempts Towards Total synthesis of (±) Spirooliganone-A [PDF]
The group has recently reported a novel protocol of oxidative dearomatization of napthols using phenyl selenium bromide (PhSeBr). The progress through this process towards the natural product synthesis especially the Spiroliganone system in the different

Simulation of physical properties of the chalcogenide glass As2S3 using a density-functional-based tight-binding method [PDF]
We have used a density-functional-based tight-binding method in order to create structural models of the canonical chalcogenide glass, amorphous As2S3. The models range from one containing defects that are both chemical (homopolar bonds) and topological (

A new visible light‐induced method is reported for the C3‐alkylation of imidazo[1,2‐a]pyrimidines and ‐pyridines with aryldiazoacetates. This protocol can be performed in open air and serves as a convenient entry to several known and new molecules. A formal synthesis of zolpidem is achieved by changing the alkylating agent to an appropriate hypervalent

Aqueous DMSO Mediated Conversion of (2-(Arylsulfonyl)vinyl)iodonium Salts to Aldehydes and Vinyl Chlorides [PDF]
Vinyl(aryl)iodonium salts are useful compounds in organic synthesis but they are under-utilized and their chemistry is under-developed. Herein is described the solvolysis of some vinyl(phenyl)iodonium salts, bearing an arylsulfonyl group, in aqueous DMSO

Integrating Enzymes with Photoredox Catalysis for Conversion of Nitriles into Fluorinated Products
Fluorinated molecules are widely used as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and as various functional materials. Traditional synthetic methods for introducing fluorine substituents into organic molecules involve deleterious chemicals and lack selectivity.

Indole Synthesis via Allenyl Ester; Enantioselective Total Synthesis of Geissoschizoline
An indole synthesis via an allenyl ester intermediate at ambient temperature has been developed. The mild reaction conditions allow the use of a broad range of substrates. Notably, the utility of this approach is demonstrated through the asymmetric total synthesis of geissoschizoline, a Strychnos‐type monoterpenoid indole alkaloid.
