Cheiromyces lignicola, a new chirosporous anamorphic species from Hong Kong [PDF]
Cheiromyces lignicola sp. nov. is described and illustrated from a freshwater stream in Hong Kong. The species is characterized by chiroid, yellowish brown, distoseptate conidia that are composed of 3-5 arms, each terminating apically in an inflated cell.

Early stages of leaf decomposition are mediated by aquatic fungi in the hyporheic zone of woodland streams [PDF]
1. Leaf litter constitutes the major source of organic matter and energy in woodland stream ecosystems. A substantial part of leaf litter entering running waters may be buried in the streambed as a consequence of flooding and sediment movement.

Adverse effects of grapevine trunk diseases on canes produced from infected rootstock mother blocks
High incidences of GTD pathogens in rootstock mother vine heads, with Phaeomoniella chlamydospora and Diplodia seriata affecting cane physiology and quality. One‐year‐old canes harbor systemic inoculum, highlighting the need for careful monitoring and management.

ABSTRACT We evaluated whether riparian forest restoration could mitigate the impacts of agricultural land use on key stream ecosystem processes (total and microbial leaf litter decomposition and periphytic algal biomass accrual) and associated assemblages (invertebrates, aquatic hyphomycetes, and periphytic algae) in three streams located in northern ...

Competitive interaction between two aquatic hyphomycete species and increase in leaf litter breakdown [PDF]
Aquatic hyphomycete species produce large numbers of conidia which rapidly colonize the leaf litter that falls into rivers during autumn. Our objective was to understand how a species which produces many fewer conidia than another in laboratory ...
