In a survey of microfungi from plant debris collected in Vietnam, two new hyphomycetous species were found, which belong to the genera Heliocephala and Pseudopenidiella and the family Microthyriaceae (Microthyriales, Dothideomycetes).

Möglichkeiten zur biologischen Bekämpfung des Zwiebelthrips Thrips tabaci LINDEMAN (Thys., Thripidae) durch verschiedene, entomopathogene Pilze aus Thailand [PDF]
The onion thrips, Thrips tabaci LINDEMAN (Thys., Thripidae) is an important pest of field and greenhouse crops around the world. It causes damage directly through feeding and indirectly through the transmission of lethal plant viruses. It is difficult to

Breakdown of Leaf Litter in a Neotropical Stream [PDF]
We investigated the breakdown of 2 leaf species, Croton gossypifolius (Euphorbiaceae) and Clidemia sp. (Melastomataceae), in a 4th-order neotropical stream (Andean Mountains, southwestern Colombia) using leaf bags over a 6-wk period.

Aquatic fungal diversity assessment through metagenomics is still limited to current databases
Abstract Fungi play essential roles across ecosystems, yet their diversity in aquatic environments remains poorly understood compared to terrestrial systems. To address this gap, we analyzed metagenomes from 26 lakes in the boreal and subarctic zones, along with one tropical reservoir, to characterize fungal and fungal‐like (Oomycota) community ...

Factors determining the occurrence of Flat Bugs (Aradidae) in beech dominated forests [PDF]
The habitat requirements of most Aradidae and the decisive factors that influence their occurrence are still poorly understood. To reduce this lack of knowledge a standardised survey of Aradidae in two large beech forest areas of Bavaria (northern ...

Effect of photoperiod and host distribution on the horizontal transmission of Isaria fumosorosea (Hypocreales: Cordycipitaceae) in greenhouse whitefly assessed using a novel model bioassay [PDF]
A model bioassay was used to evaluate the epizootic potential and determine the horizontal transmission efficiency of Isaria fumosorosea Trinidadian strains against Trialeurodes vaporariorum pharate adults under optimum conditions (25±0.5°C, ~100% RH ...

Functional Diversity of Neotropical Aquatic Hyphomycetes: Insights Into Environmental Drivers
Subtropical streams host diverse hyphomycete assemblages than tropical one's. Larger saprotrophs with diverse conidia shapes dominate in subtropical areas. Cold and oxygenated waters have a positive effect on functional diversity. Poor litter in tropical favored the dominance of wood saprotrophs and endophytes.

Field Evaluation of Three Entomopathogenic fungi on Groundnut Pest [PDF]
Entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin (Deuteromycotina: Hyphomycetes), Paecilomyces fumosoroseus (Wize) (Deuteromycotina: Hyphomycetes), Verticillium lecani Viegas (Deuteromycotina: Hyphomycetes) were tested against groundnut ...

Temperature and Sporulation of Aquatic Hyphomycetes [PDF]
ABSTRACT Temperature appears to be an important factor affecting the occurrence and distribution of aquatic hyphomycetes, the dominant leaf litter-decomposing fungi in streams. We compared conidium production by eight species of aquatic hyphomycetes grown on yellow poplar leaves in stream-simulating microcosms at three ...
