Oxidative Degradation of Indigocarmine by Hypochlorite—A Tool for Determination of Hypochlorite in Commercial Samples

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part A, 2003
The oxidative action of hypochlorite on indigocarmine is investigated. Hypochlorite dissociates indigocarmine to produce isatin-5-monosulphonic acid, with a stoichiometry of 2:1. The probable mechanism is proposed. The suitability of reaction between hypochlorite and indigocarmine as an indicator reaction for the determination of high levels of ...

ChemInform Abstract: FLUORINATED HYPOFLUORITES AND HYPOCHLORITES

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1983
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the fluorinated hypofluorites and hypochlorites. The richness of the exciting field of fluorinated hypofluorites and hypochlorites is due in very large part to the imaginative work by Ruff and Lustig. Although there are many variations, the three main methods of preparing the alkali-metal fluorides for their ...

The hypochlorite oxidation of polyvinylacetophenone

Journal of Polymer Science, 1962
AbstractPolyvinylacetophenone can be oxidized by a special two‐step technique to poly(vinylbenzoic acid). The product is soluble in alkali and in many common organic solvents. Analytical studies on the product indicate that extra oxygenated functions and some scission occur along the chain.
