Hypocitraturia in Patients with Gastrointestinal Malabsorption
New England Journal of Medicine, 1980We measured serum and urinary citrate, oxalate, calcium, and magnesium in 22 normal subjects and in 16 patients with malabsorption. The patients had subnormal levels of serum citrate and magnesium during fasting, subnormal 24-hour levels of urinary citrate, magnesium, and calcium, and excessive levels of urinary oxalate.

From Hypercalciuria to Hypocitraturia—A Shifting Trend in Pediatric Urolithiasis?
Journal of Urology, 2012We analyzed the metabolic abnormalities in children with urolithiasis, and the relationship between diet and hypocitraturia.A single center, retrospective analysis was conducted in all children with renal and/or ureteral calculi seen at our Multidisciplinary Stone Clinic between January 2010 and July 2011.

Hypocitraturia as a risk factor for nephrocalcinosis after kidney transplantation
Pediatric Nephrology, 2005Calcium-oxalate crystal deposition in kidney transplant biopsy specimen led us to investigate the impact of calcineurin inhibitor treatment on urinary excretion of lithogenic and stone inhibitory substances in 53 children after successful kidney transplantation (KTx) receiving cyclosporine A (CsA) or tacrolimus.

Causes of Hypocitraturia in Recurrent Calcium Stone Formers: Focusing on Urinary Potassium Excretion
American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2006Multiple factors associated with hypocitraturia have been identified. However, limited studies addressing the causal relationship to hypocitraturia are available. We therefore conducted this study to determine factors associated with hypocitraturia and show their causal relationship in recurrent calcium stone formers.Dietary review and 24-hour urine ...

rs11567842 SNP in SLC13A2 gene associates with hypocitraturia in Thai patients with nephrolithiasis
Genes and Genomics, 2018Hypocitraturia is a profound risk for kidney stone formation and recurrence. Sodium-dicarboxylate cotransporter-1 (NaDC-1) is a main transporter responsible for citrate reabsorption in renal proximal tubules. To investigate an association of sodium-dicarboxylate cotransporter-1 (NaDC-1) polymorphism with hypocitraturia in Thai patients with ...

Hypocitraturia in Calcium Nephrolithiasis*
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1982Several investigators have reported that hypocitraturia is frequent in patients with idiopathic kidney stones. In these studies, however, glomerular filtration rate, urinary tract infection, sex, diet, time of day, and medications, all potentially influential variables, were uncontrolled.

Correction: Hypocitraturia in Patients with Gastrointestinal Malabsorption
New England Journal of Medicine, 1981To the Editor: The report of the extensive investigation by Rudman et al. (September 18 issue) of hypocitraturia in patients with gastrointestinal malabsorption contains some errors pertaining to factors used to convert data and results, given in one unit, to another unit.

Clinical Significance of Hypocitraturia
1994Hypocitraturia is defined as one of the risk factors for calcium oxalate (CaOx) nephrolithiasis because citrate inhibits CaOx crystallization and retards its crystal growth. However, the clinical importance of hypocitraturia is not yet clearly understood.

Induction of Progressive Profound Hypocitraturia with Increasing Doses of Topiramate
Urology, 2008To provide prospective, longitudinal evidence of the effects of topiramate, an antiepileptic medication prescribed for migraine headaches, on stone-risk factors, specifically as pertaining to dosing and rapidity of onset.Patients scheduled to begin topiramate therapy were recruited to participate in the study. Enrolled subjects collected a pretreatment
