Transdiscal approach for hypogastric plexus block

Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, 2003
In this study, we have performed hypogastric plexus block using a posterior transdiscal approach in 20 patients diagnosed with pelvic pain because of cancer. The L(5)-S(1) interdiscal space was identified with fluoroscopy. A needle attached to a 5-mL syringe was introduced through the disc and advanced under lateral fluoroscopic control until resistance

Hypogastric Plexus Blocks

2018
Hypogastric plexus block is the primary sympathetic block for pelvic pain secondary to benign and malignant conditions. Innervation of the pelvis is complex, and pain emanating from pelvic organs has a visceral, somatic, and neuropathic component to it.

Superior Hypogastric Plexus

2019
Superior hypogastric plexus block is utilized to diagnose and treat sympathetically-mediated visceral pain originating from the pelvic organs. Diagnostic blocks serve to evaluate pelvic and rectal pain syndromes, and are used as a prognostic marker prior to neurolytic blocks of the plexus.

CT-Guided Superior Hypogastric Plexus Block

Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 2002
This study reports our experience with CT-guided block in the superior hypogastric plexus, using a single needle and anterior approach, in patients with pelvic cancer.Ten patients with pelvic malignancy underwent CT-guided hypogastric neurolytic block with alcohol via an anterior approach.

New Technique for Superior Hypogastric Plexus Block

Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, 1999
Background and Objectives The classical technique for blocking the superior hypogastric plexus (SHP) described by Plancarte sometimes renders the desired needle placement difficult. This article describes an alternative approach for blocking the SHP. Methods

Coaxial imaging technique for superior hypogastric plexus block

Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, 2000
Previously described techniques for superior hypogastric plexus (SHP) block are technically difficult. A simple coaxial imaging technique for SHP block is described.Fluoroscopic guidance for coaxial approach to SHP block is described. A successful block is easily achieved.A new approach to SHP block is described, which is technically effective.
