Previous Surgery and Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation for Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, 2019Objective To examine whether previous palate or hypopharyngeal surgery was associated with efficacy of treatment of obstructive sleep apnea with hypoglossal nerve stimulation. Study Design Cohort (retrospective and prospective).

Neurophysiological monitoring of tongue muscle activation during hypoglossal nerve stimulation
The Laryngoscope, 2019Upper airway stimulation for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) via implantable hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HGNS) reduces airway obstruction by selectively stimulating nerve fibers that innervate muscles that produce tongue protrusion, while avoiding ...

Intracranial Schwannoma of the Hypoglossal Nerve
Archives of Neurology, 1984Two patients had a solitary intracranial schwannoma of the hypoglossal nerve. Such schwannomas are rare, and these two cases bring the total number of reported cases to 16. Hemiatrophy of the tongue is always present but is rarely reported by patients. Diagnosis can be facilitated by high-resolution computed tomographic scanning of the posterior fossa ...

PARAPHARYNGEAL NEURILEMMOMA OF THE HYPOGLOSSAL NERVE
The Laryngoscope, 1976Although neurilemmomas are uncommon cervical neoplasms, they account for a significant percentage of parapharyngeal space tumors. These neoplasms may originate from any nerve traversing this space, but the vast majority arise from the vagus nerve and sympathetic chain.

Intracranial Neurinoma of the Hypoglossal Nerve
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1967The tenth case of a neurinoma affecting the intracranial part of the hypoglossal nerve is reported. The clinical course was characterized by the progressive unilateral involvement of the lower cranial nerves, primarily the twelfth, in combination with symptoms of cerebellar compression.

Microsurgical anatomy of the hypoglossal nerve
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2006The aim of the present study was to review the surgical anatomy of the hypoglossal nerve (HN), to reveal its relationships on its course and to provide some landmarks to its identification. Ten cadaveric head dissections (20 sides) were performed using microsurgical techniques.

Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation and Heart Rate Variability: Analysis of STAR Trial Responders
Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, 2018Objective Hypoglossal nerve stimulation represents a novel therapy for the treatment of moderate-severe obstructive sleep apnea; nonetheless, its cardiovascular effects are not known.

Cellular dumbbell schwannoma of the hypoglossal nerve presenting without hypoglossal nerve palsy
Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2000A rare case of cellular schwannoma of the hypoglossal nerve, with intraspinal extension, presenting without any recognisable impairment of the function of the hypoglossal nerve is presented.
