Industrial Applications of Spiral Bevel Gears and Hypoid Gears
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1938Abstract The paper includes a definition of terms and a general comparison of spiral bevel gears and hypoid gears with other types. The features and advantages peculiar to each type are discussed as are also tooth-contact conditions, elements of good and bad design, the importance of accurate mounting and assembling, size range and ...

FEM stress analysis in hypoid gears
Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2000Abstract Stress analysis in hypoid gears by using finite element method is performed in order to develop simple equations for the calculation of tooth deflections and stresses. A displacement type finite element method is applied with curved, twenty-node isoparametric elements.

Bevel and Hypoid Gear Noise Reduction
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1972<div class="htmlview paragraph">Vibrations created by the meshing action of bevel and hypoid gears operating in a drive system often result in gear noise. This paper discusses the origin of those vibrations and the various parameters which affect them.

Single Flank Testing Hypoid Gears
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1971<div class="htmlview paragraph">The single flank test measures the transmission error of a gear pair. The transmission error curve indicates the profile error (as described in the Gleason tooth contact analysis), and also pitch and eccentricity errors. The method is therefore valuable, not only for hypoid gear development, but also for inspection
