Machine Learning in Identifying Marker Genes for Congenital Heart Diseases of Different Cardiac Cell Types

open access: yesLife
Congenital heart disease (CHD) represents a spectrum of inborn heart defects influenced by genetic and environmental factors. This study advances the field by analyzing gene expression profiles in 21,034 cardiac fibroblasts, 73,296 cardiomyocytes, and 35,

Use of echocardiographic subxiphoid five-sixth area length (bullet) method in evaluation of adequacy of borderline left ventricle in hypoplastic left heart complex

open access: yesAnnals of Pediatric Cardiology, 2015
Indexed left ventricular end-diastolic volume (ILVEDV) is commonly used in evaluating "borderline left ventricle (LV)" in hypoplastic left heart complex (HLHC) to determine if the LV can sustain adequate systemic cardiac output.

The sensory penis: A comprehensive immunohistological and ontogenetic exploration of human penile innervation

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Penile sexual sensation relies on intricate neural structures that remain incompletely characterized. Immunohistological insights into their development and organization can enhance understanding of penile neuroanatomy and function, while optimizing surgical outcomes.

Directed Differentiation of Patient-Specific Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Identifies the Transcriptional Repression and Epigenetic Modification of NKX2-5, HAND1, and NOTCH1 in Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The genetic basis of hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) remains unknown, and the lack of animal models to reconstitute the cardiac maldevelopment has hampered the study of this disease.

Early versus late termination for fetal anomalies: Women's perspectives and psychological impact in a mixed methods study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
This mixed method study evaluated the psychological impact and perspectives associated with early and late termination of pregnancy (TOP). Early TOP due to fetal anomalies is associated with a lower psychological impact compared to late TOP. Pregnancy termination has a substantial emotional impact regardless of gestational age.
