Hypospadias

Current Opinion in Urology, 1998
The incidence of hypospadias is increasing. Decreased androgen sensitivity, 5alpha-reductase deficiency and chromosomal abnormalities are causes of the disease. Nonirritant suture material, coverage of the urethral reconstruction by additional tissue and perioperative care positively influence the outcome.

Hypospadias Reoperations

European Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2004
To retrospectively evaluate the experience of a single surgeon (YS) with hypospadias reoperations.105 hypospadias patients were reoperated by the same surgeon between 1994 - 2003. Proximal hypospadias

Urologic Clinics of North America, 2002
Approximately 20% of hypospadiac urethras are located proximally, anywhere from the penoscrotal to the perineal region. Repair of proximal defects is still one of the most challenging surgical procedures facing the hypospadiologist. Modifications of current techniques for the correction of proximal hypospadias as well as new innovative techniques ...

Hypospadias

Urologic Clinics of North America, 1978
The principles involved in the two techniques illustrated in this article are safe and effective. Complications can occur, as with any surgical procedure, but they can be minimized with careful attention to detail. In this, as in most discussions of technique, many small details are not included.

Circumcised hypospadias

Pediatric Surgery International, 2008
Patients with circumcised hypospadias have been of significant concern over many decades due to the belief that prior circumcision might negatively affect the results of hypospadias' repair. We evaluated outcomes in consecutive males with anterior, distal penile, and the megameatus with intact prepuce variant of hypospadias (MIP).After IRB approval a ...

Hypospadias Cripples

Urologic Clinics of North America, 1981
The term "hypospadias cripple" is an apt one. The successful surgery of this condition requires radical correction of all deformities, preferably in a single stage. In doing this one must be conversant with virtually all the existing methods of hypospadias repair and be able to apply them appropriately.

Hypospadias

Current Opinion in Urology, 1980
Hypospadias results in various degrees of deficiency of the urethra, corpus spongiosum, and corpora cavernosa. The fibrous tissue that causes ventral curvature replaces Buck fascia and dartos fascia. The skin on the ventral surface may be thin; the prepuce is deficient ventrally and forms a dorsal hood over the glans.

Reoperative hypospadias

Current Opinion in Urology, 2007
To review recent publications on the surgical treatment of hypospadias failures, including prognostic factors, which may influence final outcome in hypospadias surgery.Interim good outcomes for single-stage dorsal inlay grafting in patients with multiple failed repairs would suggest a greater role for this new technique over other available options ...

Midshaft hypospadias

Urologic Clinics of North America, 2002
The key to successful hypospadias surgery is minimal tissue handling, tension-free reconstruction, the use of well-vascularized tissue, and knowledge of which repairs are indicated. Preservation of the urethral plate along with an onlay graft has a low complication rate and should be attempted for midshaft hypospadias repair.
