The phylogenesis of hypotaxis in Vedic

Diachronica, 2008
Hypotaxis has been found since the earliest records of Vedic, especially for relative and adverbial functions. However, some adverbial relations more often resort to alternative structures such as clause juxtaposition, nominalization, or particles. The principles underlying the inconsistent representation of hypotaxis remain unclear.

Pseudo-coordination, pseudo-subordination, and para-hypotaxis

2022
Abstract The phenomena of pseudo-coordination and, to a lesser degree, pseudo-subordination have been recognized to play an important role in Semitics linguistics, notably in the realm of converb (gerund) and serial verb constructions, albeit under different scholarly labeling.

Hypotaxy of wafer-scale single-crystal transition metal dichalcogenides

Nature
Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors, particularly transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), are promising for advanced electronics beyond silicon1-3. Traditionally, TMDs are epitaxially grown on crystalline substrates by chemical vapour deposition.

The distribution of discoursal salience in research papers: relational hypotaxis and parataxis

Discourse Studies, 2006
In this article I challenge the claim that nuclearity is a central principle in the organization of texts. I propose the Framework for the Relational Analysis of Texts (FARS) which accounts for the paratactic and hypotactic realization of coherence relations. Within this framework, the taxis of coherence relations is co-textually dictated.

Parataxis and hypotaxis in the history of English

Abstract The claim that parataxis precedes hypotaxis in the history of English is an idea with a long pedigree; however, the empirical evidence for it is limited. In this chapter, I revisit the question of parataxis and hypotaxis diachronically, focusing on two different claims.
