Genetic Variation in Jamaican Populations of the Coffee Berry Borer, Hypothenemus hampei. [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Biol Evol
Abstract The coffee berry borer (CBB) Hypothenemus hampei was first described in Africa in 1867 and has spread to all major coffee-producing regions worldwide, including Jamaica. Using long-read sequencing, we produced a new high-quality reference genome (172.7 Mb) for the Jamaican strain of the CBB, with 93% of the genome assembled into

New record for the coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei, in Hawaii. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Insect Sci, 2011
The coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is endemic to Africa and is the most devastating pest of coffee worldwide. The female bores a hole in the coffee berry and deposits her eggs inside. Upon hatching, larvae feed on the seeds, thus reducing both quality and yields of the marketable product.

Climate-Resilient F3 Progenies of Coffea arabica: Agronomic Traits and Antibiosis to Hypothenemus hampei [PDF]

open access: yesPlants
Climate change is expected to reduce coffee yields and intensify infestations by Hypothenemus hampei, the most destructive coffee pest worldwide. Strengthening host plant resistance offers a sustainable approach to mitigate these impacts.
