Mechanisms of hypothermia‐induced cell protection mediated by microglial cells in vitro

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, 2010
Despite the widespread interest in the clinical applications of hypothermia, the cellular mechanisms of hypothermia‐induced neuroprotection have not yet been clearly understood.

Therapeutic effects of pharmacologically induced hypothermia against traumatic brain injury in mice.

open access: yesJournal of Neurotrauma, 2014
Preclinical and clinical studies have shown therapeutic potential of mild-to-moderate hypothermia for treatments of stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Inducibility in binary trees and crossings in random tanglegrams [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In analogy to other concepts of a similar nature, we define the inducibility of a rooted binary tree. Given a fixed rooted binary tree $B$ with $k$ leaves, we let $\gamma(B,T)$ be the proportion of all subsets of $k$ leaves in $T$ that induce a tree isomorphic to $B$. The inducibility of $B$ is $\limsup_{|T| \to \infty} \gamma(B,T)$.

Hypothermia in bleeding trauma: a friend or a foe? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The induction of hypothermia for cellular protection is well established in several clinical settings. Its role in trauma patients, however, is controversial.

Cardiac arrest patients have an impaired immune response, which is not influenced by induced hypothermia

open access: yesCritical Care, 2014
IntroductionInduced hypothermia is increasingly applied as a therapeutic intervention in ICUs. One of the underlying mechanisms of the beneficial effects of hypothermia is proposed to be reduction of the inflammatory response. However, a fear of reducing

Ketogenic diet induces expression of the muscle circadian gene Slc25a25 via neural pathway that might be involved in muscle thermogenesis

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
We recently found that the mRNA expression of Slc25a25, a Ca2+-sensitive ATP carrier in the inner mitochondrial membrane, fluctuates in a circadian manner in mouse skeletal muscle.

Decoherence according to Environment and Self Induced Decoherences [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
A generalized decoherence formalism that can be used both in open (using Environment Induced Decoherence-EID) and closed (using Self Induced Decoherence-SID) quantum systems is ...
