Bilateral cyclodialysis cleft following fire cracker injury managed by combined exocyclopexy and silicone oil endotamponade - An interesting case report

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology. Case Reports, 2022
Cyclodialysis creates a direct communication between the anterior chamber and suprachoroidal space leading to ocular hypotony probably caused by an increased uveoscleral outflow and hyposecretion of the ciliary body. The sequelae of cyclodialysis include

Detection of subclinical hypotony maculopathy with OCT III after filtration surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
PURPOSE: To detect nondiagnostic hypotony maculopathy by OCT III after filtration surgery. METHODS: After surgery, patients with intraocular pressure less than 9 mmHg were submitted to OCT III examination.

Bilateral Hypotony Maculopathy Associated With Ipilimumab and Nivolumab Therapy Unresponsive to Corticosteroid Treatment.

open access: yes, 2023
In rare instances, immunotherapy associated with hypotony and uveitis has been documented. We report the case of a 72-year-old man treated with 2 months of ipilimumab and nivolumab for metastatic melanoma who developed bilateral hypotony maculopathy and ...

Intraluminal stent removal after Paul glaucoma implant surgery: Intraocular pressure reduction and safety outcomes

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the outcomes of intraluminal stent removal from the Paul glaucoma implant (PGI). Methods A retrospective observational study of all cases undergoing PGI stent removal from August 2022 to August 2025 at a single Danish tertiary centre. Primary endpoints were intraocular pressure (IOP) and IOP‐lowering medications.

Modular Control of PEG‐Poly(2‐Oxazoline) Co‐Assembly Enables Tunable Aggregate Properties for Intraocular Pressure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 30, 14 August 2026.
A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.

Incidence, risk factors, and outcomes of numerical hypotony and choroidal effusion following PRESERFLO MicroShunt implantation

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 3, Page e239-e250, May 2026.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the incidence, outcomes, and risk factors of numerical hypotony (NH) and choroidal effusion (CE) following standalone PRESERFLO MicroShunt (PMS) implantation. Methods Primary open‐angle glaucoma (POAG) and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PXG) patients with uni‐ or bilateral surgery at a tertiary university hospital were ...

Suprachoroidal Triamcinolone Injection for the Management of Chronic Uveitis‐Associated Ocular Hypotony

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmological Medicine, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Purpose This study is aimed at describing the use of suprachoroidal triamcinolone injection for the treatment of refractory uveitis‐associated ocular hypotony presumed secondary to ciliary body shutdown. Methods We report a case of a 58‐year‐old woman with a 26‐year history of idiopathic, noninfectious bilateral panuveitis complicated by recurrent ...

Three-dimensional high-speed optical coherence tomography for diagnosis of hypotony maculopathy after glaucoma filtration surgery

open access: yes, 2010
To describe the clinical findings of hypotony maculopathy using 3-dimensional (3D) topography maps reconstructed from spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) imaging, and compare SD-OCT with time domain OCT (TD-OCT) for hypotony maculopathy

Hypotony maculopathy after filtering surgery with mitomycin C. Incidence and treatment

open access: yes, 1997
Hypotony maculopathy after glaucoma filtering surgery with adjunctive mitomycin C has been reported to occur in 3% to 14% of cases. The authors evaluated its incidence when using a corneal safety-valve incisior intended to reduce its occurrence.
