Patterns of ribosomal DNA distribution in hylid frogs from the Hypsiboas faber and H. semilineatus species groups

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2008
We performed a comparative analysis of the nucleolus organizer region (NOR) distribution in the karyotypes of hylid frogs from two different taxonomic groups, Hypsiboas faber and H. semilineatus. Silver nitrate staining of NORs (Ag-NORs) and fluorescence

The tadpoles of the hylid frogs (Anura: Hylidae: Hypsiboas and Osteopilus) of Hispaniola

open access: yesNovitates Caribaea, 2015
Hispaniolan hylid frogs are represented by four endemic species: Hypsiboas heilprini, Osteopilus dominicensis, O. pulchrilineatus and O. vastus. There are two tadpole ecomorphs represented in the hylid frogs of Hispaniola: lentic (O. dominicensis and O. pulchrilineatus) and lotic (H. heilprini and O. vastus).

Abiotic correlates of temporal variation of Hypsiboas leptolineatus (Amphibia: Hylidae)

open access: yesZoologia (Curitiba), 2010
Studies of anuran population dynamics are key to uncovering the mechanisms responsible for temporal fluctuations in abundance and those that shape population structure.

Identification and characterization of an antimicrobial peptide of Hypsiboas semilineatus (Spix, 1824) (Amphibia, Hylidae)

open access: yesToxicon, 2015
The multidrug-resistant bacteria have become a serious problem to public health. In this scenery the antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) derived from animals and plants emerge as a novel therapeutic modality, substituting or in addition to the conventional antimicrobial. The anurans are one of the richest natural sources of AMPs.

Response of digestive organs of Hypsiboas albopunctatus (Anura: Hylidae) to benzo[α]pyrene

open access: yesAmphibia-Reptilia, 2017
Anurans are exposed to several pollutants. One of these is benzo[ α ]pyrene (BaP). This compound is produced by incomplete combustion and is toxic to the liver and intestine, where it is metabolized.
