Effect of Nonlinear Hysteresis Details of Isolation System on In-Structure Response Spectra

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To evaluate the seismic safety of components in a structure, an in-structure response spectrum (ISRS) must be obtained, and this also applies to seismically isolated structures.

Hysteretic Behavior in Voltage-Gated Channels

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2020
An ever-growing body of evidence has shown that voltage-gated ion channels are likely molecular systems that display hysteresis in their activity. This phenomenon manifests in the form of dynamic changes in both their voltage dependence of activity and ...

Experimental investigation on cyclic behavior of non-structural masonry walls strengthened with bed joint reinforcement and textile-reinforced concrete [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی عمران شریف
One of the main damages of the nonstructural masonry walls during an earthquake is its instability and collapse on the combination of deformation at the in-plain direction caused by lateral inter-story drift of structures and out-of-plane inertial forces

A Modified Duhem Model for Rate-Dependent Hysteresis Behaviors [PDF]

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
Hysteresis behaviors are inherent characteristics of piezoelectric ceramic actuators. The classical Duhem model (CDM) as a popular hysteresis model has been widely used, but cannot precisely describe rate-dependent hysteresis behaviors at high-frequency and high-amplitude excitations.

Investigation of the Cyclic Performance of Flat Steel Shear Walls Stiffened with Double-Sided Trapezoidal Corrugated Plates

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering
SSWs have been utilized to create and reinforce several structures over the past decades. With the development of steel shear walls (SSWs), corrugated plates have been introduced as a suitable alternative to flat steel plates due to their higher buckling

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Modeling and Validation of the Radial Force Capability of Bearingless Hysteresis Drives

open access: yesActuators, 2018
The hysteresis motor technology combined with the magnetic suspension makes bearingless hysteresis drives very appealing for high- and ultra-high-speed applications.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

A Frequency Domain PID Control Strategy for an In-House Friction and Wear Test Rig

open access: yesAerospace
The contact behavior greatly influences the damping performance of frictional interfaces. Numerous experimental studies on friction and fretting wear have investigated the evolution of contact parameters.
