Modeling of hysteretic behavior in ferroelectric polymers

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science Part B: Polymer Physics, 2015
Controlling the polarization state of ferroelectric materials, and more particularly piezoelectric polymers, is critical to ensure good operation of actuators or sensors using such energy conversion mechanisms. More specifically, the modeling and prediction of the hysteretic behavior of such materials is a critical aspect for the fabrication of robust ...

Hysteretic behavior in metallic granular matter

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2002
Various packings made of metallic grains have been electrically characterized. Electrical breakdown is observed in I–V curves. A well defined critical point separates the insulating and the conducting regime of the packing. The breakdown is reversible by submitting the packing to a small tap.

Analysis of Hysteretic Behavior of Anchored Reinforcing Bars

open access: yes, 1997
This paper presents the analysis of the hysteretic behavior of anchored reinforcing bars with a new finite element model. The Smile element is based on the interpolation of the steel stress distribution and thus, is flexibility-based. It is characterized by robust and stable numerical behavior even in the presence of significant strength loss and ...

Hysteretic Behavior of RC Beams

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1984
A mechanical model for the cross section of a reinforced concrete beam is proposed. Attention is focused on the local phenomena relating to the cross section, while the phenomena relating to the beam element to which the section belongs is ignored. In particular the concrete fracturing mechanism and the slippage and yielding of steel are considered ...

A Note on Calculating Hysteretic Behavior

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 2000
A computational procedure for approximating the hysteretic relationship between pore water content and pressure head in porous bodies is described. A distribution function F is introduced that retains the features of the distribution function F of the ...
