Hysteretic behavior using the explicit material point method
Computational Particle Mechanics, 2018The material point method (MPM) is an advancement of particle in cell method, in which Lagrangian bodies are discretized by a number of material points that hold all the properties and the state of the material. All internal variables, stress, strain, velocity, etc., which specify the current state, and are required to advance the solution, are stored ...

Modeling and compensation of piezoelectric ceramic hysteretic behavior
2009 International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation, 2009Piezoelectric actuators are widely applied as actuators in micro/nano-positioning systems, due to its characteristic of infinitely small displacement resolution. While the tracking control accuracy of the piezoelectric actuator is limited because of their inherent hysteretic nonlinearity.

Scaled Memory Description of Hysteretic Material Behavior
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1996Herein the concept of scaled memory (SM) is proposed to describe hysteretic material behaviors. SM scales the nonlinear variation of tangential modulus during monotonic loadings into a piecewise linear distribution, which can easily be modified to simulate specific characteristics of material behavior during cyclic loadings.

Analysis of Hysteretic Behavior of Anchored Reinforcing Bars
1997This paper presents the analysis of the hysteretic behavior of anchored reinforcing bars with a new finite element model. The Smile element is based on the interpolation of the steel stress distribution and thus, is flexibility-based. It is characterized by robust and stable numerical behavior even in the presence of significant strength loss and ...

Modeling and analysis of hysteretic structural behavior
1990For damaging response, the force-displacement relationship of a structure is highly nonlinear and history-dependent. For satisfactory analysis of such behavior, it is important to be able to characterize and to model the phenomenon of hysteresis accurately.
