Mesh design for electrical resistivity imaging of agricultural dikes

open access: yesNear Surface Geophysics, EarlyView.
Abstract Electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) shows promise for investigating earthen flood barriers. We are interested in the applicability of ERI for aiding maintenance and construction efforts on agricultural dikes in the upper Bay of Fundy, Canada.

Water Co‐Adsorption in Ultrathin Films of Ionic Liquids on Pt(111)

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
At 100 K, IL adsorption on D2O precovered Pt(111) partially displaces interfacial water resulting in a water‐IL co‐adsorbed layer. Upon heating to 130 K, IL ions migrate to the metal interface, thereby destabilizing adsorbed water as shown by the ≈10 K reduction in its desorption temperature.

Data gaps and heterogeneity limit our understanding of human–wildlife interactions: A continental study of Andean bears

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The expansion and intensification of human activities have increased interactions between people and wildlife. Interactions involving bears and other large carnivores are complex and can lead to conflicts. Promoting positive coexistence requires managing information, which is not always available.

Electronic Correlation Effects in the Response of Graphene and MoS2 Monolayers to the Impact of Highly‐Charged Ions

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
The response of graphene and MoS2 monolayers to highly‐charged impinging ions is investigated using nonequilibrium Green functions theory. Electronic correlations are found to have a significantly stronger influence on the ultrafast ion‐induced electron dynamics in MoS2 than in graphene.

Analytical Solution to the Gradual Channel Approximation for Metal–Oxide‐Semiconductor Field‐Effect Transistors

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
Schematic of a metal‐oxide‐semiconductor field‐effect transistor at pinch‐off together with the channel potential. We revisit the problem of the potential distribution in an inversion channel field effect transistor (metal–oxide‐semiconductor field‐effect transistor) within the gradual channel approximation.
