Nontraditional Use of Biomass at Certified Forest Management Units: Forest Biomass for Energy Production and Carbon Emissions Reduction in Indonesia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Biomass conversion technologies that produce energy and reduce carbon emissions have become more feasible to develop. This paper analyzes the potential of converting biomass into biomethanol at forest management units experiencing three forest management practices (community‐based forest management (CBFM), plantation forest (PF), and natural production

Mammal Species Composition and Activity Patterns Shift While Richness Remains Constant Across Elevational Gradients in Western Sarawak, Borneo

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
We examined how mid‐ to large‐bodied mammal communities vary along elevational gradients in northwestern Borneo using camera trap data from six protected areas. Although species richness remained constant across elevations, species composition and activity patterns shifted, with some taxa more common at low or high elevations. These findings underscore

Flexible Colloidal Light‐Emitting Diodes of Self‐Assembled Quantum Well Monolayers

open access: yesSmall, Volume 21, Issue 32, August 14, 2025.
High efficiency and stable flexible LEDs are successfully produced using a single layer face‐down oriented CdSe/CdZnS core–shell CQWs as an emissive monolayer in a flexible platform for the first time. These flexible LEDs with their excellent luminance properties and stable emission emerge as exceptional candidates for future advanced flexible display ...

Not just semantics: CO2 fertilization can be a disturbance leading to worldwide forest degradation

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 7, Issue 3, Page 638-643, May 2025.
The physiological effects of increased atmospheric CO2 (CO2 fertilization) on intact forests are generally seen as a process that might buffer them against the impacts of climate change. However, CO2 fertilization can also cause adverse changes in forest conditions, such as alterations in species composition and reduced ecosystem moisture availability.

The Development of Carbon Markets in Upper‐Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, Volume 19, Issue 2, Page 482-495, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Upper‐middle‐income economies face a specific set of trade‐offs when reducing carbon emissions, which differ from the trade‐offs faced in low‐ and high‐income economies. To mobilize domestic funds, middle‐income countries are developing carbon markets to attract private sector investment.
