The i-gel Supraglottic Airway as a Conduit for Fibreoptic Tracheal Intubation – A Randomized Comparison with the Single-use Intubating Laryngeal Mask Airway and CTrach Laryngeal Mask in Patients with Predicted Difficult Laryngoscopy

open access: yesPrague Medical Report, 2016
Fibreoptic intubation through a supraglottic airway is an alternative plan for airway management in difficult or failed laryngoscopy. The aim of this study was to compare three supraglottic airways as conduits in patients with at least one predictor for ...

The Hard Lefschetz Theorem in positive characteristic for the Flag Varieties

open access: yes, 2017
For a given flag variety, we characterize the primes $p$ for which there exists a weight $\lambda$ such that the Hard Lefschetz Theorem holds for multiplication by $\lambda$ on the cohomology of the flag variety with coefficients in an infinite field of ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Digital morphometry of cytologic aspirate endometrial samples [Digitalna morfometrijska analiza citoloških uzoraka aspirata endometrija] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Unlike cervical cytology, morphological cytology criteria in the differential diagnosis of endometrium have not yet been clearly defined, and methods to allow for more precise evaluation of endometrium status have been searched for.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Clinical Performance Evaluation of Ambu AuraGain versus I-gel in Obese Female Patients Undergoing Short-duration Surgeries for Breast Cancer: A Randomised Controlled Trial

open access: yesJournal of Onco-Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine
Background and Aims: Supraglottic airway devices (SADs) secure and maintain airways in patients undergoing breast cancer surgery. I-gel and Ambu AuraGain (AAG) are two common second-generation SADs used. However, data comparing their efficacy are limited

I-gel assisted fiberoptic intubation in a child with Morquio's syndrome

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Anaesthesia, 2015
Morquio's syndrome, also known as mucopolysaccharidosis type IV is an autosomal recessive disorder, caused by deficiency of n-acetylgalactosamine-6-sulphate. Anesthetic management of this syndrome is a great challenge, especially in pediatric age group as “cannot ventilate, cannot intubate” scenario can be encountered by anesthesiologist due to the ...
