[The i-gel, a new supraglottic airway].
Masui. The Japanese journal of anesthesiology, 2010The i-gel, invented by Muhammed Aslam Nasir, is a new supraglottic airway, consisting of a mask and a tube. One notable feature of the i-gel is that the rim of the mask is designed to conform to the anatomical shape of the larynx. This enables the device to provide an airtight seal without the cuff mechanism.

Tracheal compression caused by oversized i-gel in children.
Minerva anestesiologica, 2013General anesthesia is often necessary for magnetic reso- nance imaging (MRI), especially in newborns and in- fants for safety reasons1 and in such cases the airway is se- cured with endotracheal tube or supraglottic device such as the classic laryngeal mask airway (LMA-c).
