Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

The decay $$B\rightarrow K+\nu +\bar{\nu }$$ B → K + ν + ν ¯ at Belle II and a massless bino in R-parity-violating supersymmetry

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
Recently, Belle II announced evidence for the decay $$B^+\rightarrow K^+ +\nu +\bar{\nu }$$ B + → K + + ν + ν ¯ at the $$3.5\,\sigma $$ 3.5 σ significance, and measured the corresponding decay branching ratio to be $$2.7\,\sigma $$ 2.7 σ above the ...

Characterization and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Patterns of Enterococcus Species Isolated from Nosocomial Infections in a Saudi Tertiary Care Hospital over a Ten-Year Period (2012–2021)

open access: yesDiagnostics
Introduction: The Enterococcus genus is a common cause of nosocomial infections, with vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) posing a significant treatment challenge.

Crystal structure of an adenovirus virus-associated RNA

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Adenovirus Virus-Associated (VA) noncoding RNAs interfere with the host system by mimicking double stranded RNAs. Here, the authors report a 2.7 Å crystal structure of VA-I RNA providing an understanding of its function.

Pre-Orogenic Tectonostratigraphic Evolution of the European Distal Margin-Alpine Tethys Transition Zone in High-Pressure Units of the Southwestern Alps

open access: yesGeosciences, 2022
Geological mapping, stratigraphic observations, and U/Pb dating allow reconstructing the pre-orogenic setting of the transition zone between the distal European passive margin and the Alpine Tethys in the southwestern Alps.

Autocatalytic Theory of Meaning [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Recently it has been argued that autocatalytic theory could be applied to the origin of culture. Here possible application to a theory of meaning in the philosophy of language, called radical interpretation, is commented upon and compared to previous ...

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Hamiltonian Quantization of Effective Lagrangians with Massive Vector Fields

open access: yes, 1993
Effective Lagrangians containing arbitrary interactions of massive vector fields are quantized within the Hamiltonian path integral formalism. It is proven that correct Hamiltonian quantization of these models yields the same result as naive Lagrangian ...

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Allelopathic Properties of the Species Comprising Communities of Invasive Impatiens spp. and Antioxidant System of Invaders’ Populations

open access: yesDiversity
Globalization has greatly expanded the opportunities for plant species to enter new areas through a wide range of pathways. Elucidating the pathways of spread of alien species and the characteristics of organisms that make them invasive is one of the ...
