APOBEC3 activity and DNA polymerase‐ε deficiency are associated with distinct IDH1 R132 hotspot mutations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) mutations are highly recurrent in multiple human cancer types, including cholangiocarcinoma and glioma. IDH1 R132C is the most common IDH1 mutation in cholangiocarcinoma and likely arises from APOBEC3A‐ or APOBEC3B‐mediated deamination.

Mixed-integer linear programming for the optimal design and management of air compressor rooms

open access: yes, 2014
—In this work the application of Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) techniques is proposed for choosing the optimal topology of an air compressor room, while (i) focusing on energy efficiency and (ii) keeping the input power to the lowest value ...

p190A/ARHGAP35 and p190B/ARHGAP5 proteins in endometrial cancer: a novel cancer‐relevant paralog interplay

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies ARHGAP5, in addition to the frequently mutated ARHGAP35, as significantly mutated in endometrial cancer. Mutations in both genes co‐occur and are associated with their correlated downregulation. Functional CRISPR studies show that both paralogs regulate similar pathways, including actin cytoskeleton organization.

KDAC6 alters cell morphology and motility through positive and negative modulation of F‐actin distribution

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KDAC6 has been associated with cell motility and actin structures, but specific domain contributions are not established. The two catalytic domains have differential effects on motility and F‐actin regulation, affecting cortical F‐actin density, motility, stress fibers, and cell spreading.

A Follow-up Study of Neonatal Interatrial Shunt with Echocardiography until Twelve to Fifteen Months of Age

open access: yesPediatrics and Neonatology, 2008
To assess the incidence and natural history of full-term neonates with interatrial shunt (IAS). Methods: A follow-up study of 1389 neonates who received screening echocardiography between 2003 and 2006.

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Clinical Features and Causes of Endogenous Hyperinsulinemic Hypoglycemia in Korea [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes & Metabolism Journal, 2015
BackgroundEndogenous hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia (EHH) is characterized by an inappropriately high plasma insulin level, despite a low plasma glucose level. Most of the EHH cases are caused by insulinoma, whereas nesidioblastosis and insulin autoimmune

MARK4 enhances stress granule formation under oxidative stress and increases tau accumulation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
MARK4 (red dots) localizes to stress granules (orange dots) and promotes their formation under oxidative stress by modulating TIA1 (blue dots). MARK4 and TIA1 synergistically increase tau (purple) accumulation, and the reduction of the TIA1 ortholog suppresses neurodegeneration in a fly model.

Prodromal Lewy Body Disorder Features in REM Sleep Behavior Disorder With Biomarker‐Defined Synucleinopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Isolated rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) is a prodromal state for Lewy body disorders and exhibits biological heterogeneity that may influence clinical expression and progression. We examined clinical features in individuals with iRBD and biomarker‐defined synucleinopathy.
