Elevation, rather than land use, causes important dietary shifts in the Mediterranean golden eagle

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 329, Issue 1, Page 25-37, May 2026.
In an ever‐changing landscape, golden eagles in the Iberian Peninsula demonstrate remarkable dietary adaptability. We monitored 50 distinct breeding events over 4 years using camera traps, collecting over 520 000 images. Elevation, rather than land use, emerged as the main driver of prey composition: lagomorphs and columbiforms dominated at lower ...

Financial Time Series Uncertainty: A Review of Probabilistic AI Applications

open access: yesJournal of Economic Surveys, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 915-953, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Probabilistic machine learning models offer a distinct advantage over traditional deterministic approaches by quantifying both epistemic uncertainty (stemming from limited data or model knowledge) and aleatoric uncertainty (due to inherent randomness in the data), along with full distributional forecasts.

Grazing and climate interact to regulate greening trends in Mediterranean grasslands

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our results show that traditional grazing systems can maintain grassland stability without causing degradation, but they can also increase the ecosystem's vulnerability to climate change. We provide clear evidence that GPS‐based livestock monitoring is a powerful and scalable tool for sustainable rangeland management.

Effects of season, age and body condition on allocation to testes mass in Iberian ibex [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, 2010
Sperm competition is a powerful evolutionary force, and understanding the factors that regulate testes characteristics may lead to a better understanding of the variability in male reproductive success. We explored the effects of age, body condition and season on relative testes mass in the Iberian ibex Capra pyrenaica.

The Human Remains From the MIS 6 Site of Grotta Del Poggio (Cilento, Southern Italy): A Taxonomic and Chronological Reassessment

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 188, Issue 4, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives Grotta del Poggio is a key site for exploring the Middle Paleolithic in southern Italy, as it contains a pivotal anthropogenic deposit, mainly attributed to MIS 6, while in the Metal Ages, the cavity was used as a burial place. Excavations in the cave's deposit led to the discovery of a human molar and a human talus.

Microsatellite analysis for both domestic goats (C. a. hircus) and the three Iberian ibex populations sampled in Catalonia.

open access: yes, 2022
Individual Q proportion of the genome of each individual assigned to each of the genetic clusters inferred with STRUCTURE for (A) C. a. hircus and C. ibex sampled in the study area, and for (B) K = 2 and (C) K = 3, for the three Iberian ibex populations ...

Effectiveness of herbivore exclusion fences for plant conservation depends on management strategy and landscape context

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 7, Issue 12, December 2025.
Fences are widely used to restrict or reduce grazing pressure on endangered plant species or communities, and to ultimately ensure their viability. Here, we evaluate what factors determine their effectiveness at a regional scale by assessing ungulate detection (presence/absence) within exclosures and discuss its ecological and conservation implications.

Relationship between Iberian ibex (Capra pyrenaica) sperm quality and level of parasitism [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Wildlife Research, 2010
This paper examines the relationship between parasite infection rates and reproductive function in wild Iberian ibexes. The animals examined were 43 adult males shot during the rutting season. Gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes, intestinal cestodes and intestinal coccidia were determined by coprological analysis.

Empirical Analysis of Social Enterprises and Their Impact on Sustainable Development Goals

open access: yesSustainable Development, Volume 33, Issue S1, Page 1355-1375, November 2025.
ABSTRACT The research presents an overview of the Special Employment Centres (SECs) in the reporting of information on Sustainable Development Goals, as the sector, size, and economic–financial results influence in different ways when it comes to facing the Sustainable Development Goals by these companies.
