Implementing the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision (ICD-9) to International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) conversion on October 1, 2015, in the United States has been a long-term goal. While most countries in the world converted more than 10 years ago, the United States was still using ICD-9.

ICD‐Antiarrhythmic Drug and ICD‐Pacemaker Interactions
Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, 1997Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators. Antiarrhythmic drugs and separate bradycardia pacing systems are prescribed commonly in patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). Adverse effects of antiarrhythmic drugs on ICD function and adverse interactions between ICDs and pacemakers have been documented.

Incorporating ICD-9 and ICD-10 data in a warehouse
Proceedings of 15th IEEE Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (CBMS 2002), 2003The shift from version 9 to version 10 of the "International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems", or ICD (International Classification of Diseases) for short, causes enormous problems for the exploitation of medical data warehouses, since conventional data warehouses do not support the change of the structure of ...

A proximal pseudofracture of a Medtronic 6936 defibrillating lead adjacent to the ICD pulse generator was found on X ray. At this site, the multifilar metallic connector joins the stimulating lead before coiling around it. Conventional X ray of the abdomen does not visualize this connection.

Defibrillator technology for sudden cardiac death (SCD) prevention now includes the transvenous implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD), subcutaneous ICD (S-ICD) and wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD). ICD use improves survival in patients who survived previous sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) due to ventricular tachycardia (VT)/ventricular ...

The results of the Sudden Cardiac Death in Heart Failure Trial show that there are likely to be expanded clinical indications for the use of an implantable cardioverter–defibrillator. Drs. Mark McClellan and Sean Tunis state that the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services is poised to expand its ICD coverage substantially.
