Contrasting the Penultimate Glacial Maximum and the Last Glacial Maximum (140 and 21 ka) using coupled climate–ice sheet modelling [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past
The configuration of the Northern Hemisphere ice sheets during the Penultimate Glacial Maximum differed to the Last Glacial Maximum. However, the reasons for this are not yet fully understood.

Tunable 3D‐Printed Static Mixers for Gradient Bioprinting With High Cell Viability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The fabrication of native tissue‐like structures with gradual transitions in material properties, cell types, and growth factors remains a major challenge in biofabrication due to the lack of suitable methods. Mimicking the hierarchical organization of living tissues is essential for functional models, yet creating gradient, multimaterial ...

Extreme‐Temperature Resistant, Flexible, and Sensitive Strain Sensor for Aerospace Parachute Deployment

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
In this study, we report a resistive‐type strain sensor fabricated using single‐walled CNTs, are used layer using the pray technique to deposit as conductive, and UV‐resin was spin‐coated as a protection layer. The sensor functioned in harsh temperature variation conditions from −50°C to 125°C without deterioration.

Data assimilation and prognostic whole ice sheet modelling with the variationally derived, higher order, open source, and fully parallel ice sheet model VarGlaS

open access: yes, 2013
. We introduce a novel, higher order, finite element ice sheet model called VarGlaS (Variational Glacier Simulator), which is built on the finite element framework FEniCS.

Radiative Cooling by Green(er) Solvents‐Upcycled Polyvinyl Chloride From Drug Blisters Waste

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores upcycling poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) from used pharmaceutical blisters into sustainable radiative cooling materials. Using solvent separation and membrane fabrication, PVC was converted into white membranes paired with aluminum foil.

Model weighting for ISMIP6-Greenland based on observations and similarity among models

open access: yesAnnals of Glaciology
The Ice Sheet Model Intercomparison Project for CMIP6 (ISMIP6) resulted in many ice-sheet simulations from multiple ice-sheet models. To date, no model weighting studies have analyzed or quantified the model performance, possible duplication of the ...

Adding a dynamical cryosphere to iLOVECLIM (version 1.0): coupling with the GRISLI ice-sheet model

open access: yes, 2013
. We present a coupling approach to and the first results of the GRISLI ice-sheet model within the iLOVECLIM-coupled climate model. The climate component is a relatively low-resolution earth system model of intermediate complexity, well suited for long ...
