Ice Nucleus Concentrations at the Ground

Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1963
Abstract Daily observations of the surface concentration of ice nuclei have been made for three summers in Missouri as a part of Project Whitetop. The observations were taken with a nucleus counter of the expansion type. Ice nucleus counts varied considerably from day to day and from hour to hour; they were greater, on the average, during periods with ...

Ice nuclei concentrations in an urban atmosphere

Atmospheric Environment (1967), 1985
Abstract A multivariate statistical analysis of the ice nuclei concentrations and meteorological data collected in Valladolid, Spain, during the period January–October 1982 is presented. In order to obtain a major knowledge of the microphysics of the region, a basic description of ice nuclei concentration data is made.

Monthly average polar sea-ice concentration

Data Series, 1995
This data set represents the results of calculations carried out on sea-ice-concentration data from the SMMR and SSM/I instruments. The original data were obtained from the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC). The data set also contains the source code of the programs that made the calculations.

Ice Nucleus Concentrations in Remote Areas

Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1973
Abstract Concentrations of ice nuclei have been measured in aerosols sampled by pairs of membrane filters mounted high on the forward mast of a ship making almost continuous voyages during the years 1969–72 over the half of the Southern Hemisphere centered on Australia.

NO adsorption on ice at low concentrations

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1992
Abstract To better understand the properties of ice surfaces at different temperatures, the adsorption of a relatively insoluble gas, NO, was studied using a continuous-flow column experiment. Adsorption isotherms for NO on the surface of ice were measured for a temperature range of −1 to −70°C and a concentration range of 10 to 250 ppbv. Very little

Ice concentration estimation based on local inversion

IGARSS'97. 1997 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium Proceedings. Remote Sensing - A Scientific Vision for Sustainable Development, 2002
Methods for ice concentration estimation with passive microwave instrument data by means of inversion techniques as well as an adaptive local inversion method are proposed. The experimental results with DMSP/SSM/I data show better accuracy through a comparison to the existing methods, NASA, Comiso algorithms.

Fuel System Icing Inhibitor Concentration Reduction Study

2013
Abstract : Fuel System Icing Inhibitor (FSII) is composed of DiEthylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether (DiEGME). FSII provides fuel system icing and microbial growth protection to aviation fuel systems. The current FSII specification requirement for JP-5 aviation fuel is 0.10-0.15% by volume.

Concentration of CO2 over melting ice oscillates.

Physical review letters, 2004
We report that the concentration of CO2 over melting ice oscillates as long as water and ice coexist. A phenomenological model involving melting of CO2 containing ice leading to its release, readsorption of the vapor on ice, and dissolution in water is proposed. Thermokinetics of these processes lead to nonlinearity of the dynamics.

Lunar Dust and Terrestrial Ice Nucleus Concentration

Nature, 1963
BIGG1 demonstrated a relation between summer ice nucleus concentration and lunar phase. If one assumes that increase of ice nuclei causes increase in precipitation, relations between precipitation and lunar phase can be accounted for. The effect is global and it occurs in lower latitudes with a delay of a few days. When Bigg's curves are reduced to 34°
