How to Read This Paper This paper is structured so that a reader can enter at different levels depending on what they care about—magnetic fields, plasma flow, ice accumulation, or testable predictions. The physics builds layer by layer, but you don’t need to read every section to follow the main idea.

Investigation of the flexural properties of reinforced concrete beams strengthened by externally bonded steel plates. [PDF]
It is sometimes necessary to strengthen in situ concrete structures. Externally bonded plate reinforcement has been successfully applied to structures with subsequent satisfactory performance.

Biocompatible (Nano)Composites Based on Poly(ε‐Caprolactone)/Siloxene
Bio‐inert and biocompatible pCLO/siloxene (nano)composites with enhanced mechanical properties. ABSTRACT The work focuses on the synthesis of the siloxene nanofiller and its subsequent use in the preparation of poly(ε‐caprolactone)/siloxene (nano)composites via in situ polymerization and melt blending.

Theoretical estimation of floating ice sheet deflection caused by the motion of a submerged object
The vertical deflection of floating ice sheets subjected to the movements of an underwater object is the subject of the present theoretical study. Steady deflections are estimated based on theories of small deformation of thin plates and potential flow using Fourier and Laplace transform techniques and complex analysis.

Unsaturated biobased polyesters from bicyclic α‐pinene‐based diols
We present the synthesis of four biosourced unsaturated polyesters made from chiral terpene‐based diols and esters of renewable diacids. The resulting materials harbor a bicyclic pinene ring in their backbones which leads to enhanced thermal properties while still conferring susceptibility to enzyme hydrolysis for chains having a cis alkene.

Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes exhibit takeoff responses when presented to commercial permethrin headspace. This product elicits electrophysiological activity in the antennae and tarsi. However, only the chemical information acquired from the tarsi plays a major role in the observed behavioral response.

Analysis of the fractional scattering contribution in the forward peak for multicomponent systems
Derivation and justification of mixing rules for multicomponent systems. A novel formulation of the delta‐Eddington scaling rule. Analytical guidance for comparing radiative transfer results. Abstract The widely used δ‐Eddington approximation improves the accuracy of radiative transfer calculations by representing the fraction of scattering into the ...

ABSTRACT As a crucial puzzle piece of deep space exploration, exploring small bodies can provide significant scientific insights and valuable mineral resources. Unlike missions to the Moon and Mars, small‐body missions pose distinct technical challenges, including communication delays, weak gravity, and uncertain environments. This paper reviews a full

Geomorphic Effects and Habitat Impacts of Large Wood at Restoration Sites in New England
ABSTRACT Large wood (used interchangeably with the term “instream wood”), which refers to trees, logs and other wood within a channel, is beneficial to river ecosystems and is being used more frequently as a component of river restoration projects. We identified metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of large wood to promote ecological and geomorphic ...
