2013In this chapter, standard IC-engine-based propulsion systems are analyzed using the tools that will be later applied for the optimization of more complex powertrains. The main components of IC-engine-based propulsion systems are the engine and the gear box.

This chapter describes the production and use of biofuels/alternate fuels to run the internal combustion engine (IC Engine). Two methods, using biodiesel blends with diesel and using syngas obtained from gasification system, for running the IC engine in dual fuel mode have been analyzed.
