Numerical computation of river ice jams
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1993A numerical model called RIVJAM has been developed to compute the configuration of and water levels caused by ice jams of the "wide" kind, under natural stream conditions and regardless of whether the jam has attained its full potential, known as equilibrium.

Seepage flow through simulated grounded ice jam
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1985Laboratory tests were conducted to study the seepage flow conditions through a simulated grounded jam. Results indicated that nonlaminar seepage predominates and that the resulting relationship between the local flow and the upstream and downstream water depths may be applied to both steady and unsteady flow conditions.

Hydraulic Roughness of Breakup Ice Jams
Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2001Lack of field data on the thickness and roughness of river ice jams inhibits reliable calibration of ice jam models and can result in erroneous evaluation of important physical parameters. Detailed thickness data that have been obtained on several ice jams by means of a remote profiling technique reveal a highly irregular underside.

Mathematical Modeling of River Ice Transport and Ice Jam Formation
Impacts of Global Climate Change, 2005Dynamic and thermal processes on river ice transport, including ice jam formation, will be discussed. Mathematical modeling of river ice processes as well as examples of river ice models will be presented.
