The stability of flow velocity and intracoronary resistance in the intracoronary electrocardiogram-triggered pressure ratio

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Assessment of coronary artery lesions using the fractional flow reserve and instantaneous flow reserve (iFR) measurements has been found to reduce the incidence of further cardiovascular events. Here, we investigated differences in terms of coronary flow

Modelling the primary drying step for the determination of the optimal dynamic heating pad temperature in a continuous pharmaceutical freeze-drying process for unit doses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the pharmaceutical industry, traditional freeze-drying of unit doses is a batch-wise process associated with many disadvantages. To overcome these disadvantages and to guarantee a uniform product quality and high process efficiency, a continuous ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Experimental and numerical study on ice resistance for icebreaking vessels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2015
Ice resistance is defined as the time average of all longitudinal forces due to ice acting on the ship. Estimation of ship’s resistance in ice-covered waters is very important to both designers and shipbuilders since it is closely related to propulsion ...

Numerical simulation of ice loads on a ship in broken ice fields using an elastic ice model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2020
The finite element method is used to simulate the navigation of an ice-area bulk carrier in broken ice fields. The ice material is defined as elastic, and the simulations are accomplished at four model speeds and three ice concentrations.

Exceptional Anti-Icing Performance of Self-Impregnating Slippery Surfaces

open access: yes, 2017
A heat exchange interface at subzero temperature in a water vapor environment, exhibits high probability of frost formation due to freezing condensation, a factor that markedly decreases the heat transfer efficacy due to the considerable thermal ...

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Electrical Resistivity Measurements on Ice Sheets [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 1967
The electrical resistivity of firn and ice of ice sheets is a function of the “base” resistivity, the contact resistance between the grains, and the temperature. At greater depths temperature is the predominant influence, and observed resistivity curves can be explained by temperature variations which agree partly with the theories of heat conduction ...

Mobile Antibiotic Resistance Encoding Elements Promote Their Own Diversity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Integrating conjugative elements (ICEs) are a class of bacterial mobile genetic elements that disseminate via conjugation and then integrate into the host cell genome. The SXT/R391 family of ICEs consists of more than 30 different elements that all share

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.
