A review of ice rheology for ice sheet modelling

Cold Regions Science and Technology, 1989
Abstract Ice core and borehole studies along flowlines in ice sheets show that the ice crystal structure and flow properties evolve together with strain and rotation along the particle paths. Laboratory studies of initially isotropic polycrystalline ice show that the changes in crystal structure and flow properties of the ice sheets can be simulated ...

Historic simulations of the Antarctic Ice Sheet with the Parallel Ice Sheet Model

2021
<p>Large uncertainties in Antarctic sea level projections are related to ocean-driven melting (Seroussi et al., 2020; Jourdain et al., 2020; Reese et al., 2020; Edwards et al., in press) and the marine ice sheet instability (Robel et al., 2019).

Analytical Models of Ice Sheets and Ice Shelves

2020
Simple mathematical models for ice sheets and ice shelves are described which provide important insights into their dynamics. The models studied can be solved analytically to give equilibrium surface profiles and velocity distributions. Consideration is given to the feedback between surface elevation and mass balance.

Modelling the dynamics of ice sheets

Progress in Physical Geography: Earth and Environment, 1993
Although the mechanics and qualitative dynamics of grounded ice sheets and ice shelves are fairly well understood, this is not true for the transition between the two. In consequence, the existence and nature of any grounding line instability have yet to be established.
