Pre-cooling for endurance exercise performance in the heat: a systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background Endurance exercise capacity diminishes under hot environmental conditions. Time to exhaustion can be increased by lowering body temperature prior to exercise (pre-cooling).

Study on the Dynamic Generation of Subcooled Water Using a Compact Heat Exchanger

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The dynamic generation of ice slurry from subcooled water is one of the most promising ways to make ice; this process is utilized widely in ice storage air-conditioning systems.

Tandem mass tag-based proteomics technology analyzing the effects of seawater slurry ice-assisted preservation on muscle proteins of Larimichthys crocea

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2023
In order to study the changes in muscle proteins of Larimichthys crocea during the seawater slurry ice-assisted preservation period, tandem mass tag (TMT)-based proteomics technology was used to quantitatively analyze the muscle proteins of fresh (stored

Investigation of the Characteristics of Ice Slurry Containing Antifreeze Protein for Ice Storage Applications.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series B, 1997
Ice slurry systems have recently attracted much attention in Japan for their ability to reduce electricity peaks caused by high energy-consumption by air-conditioners in the daytime. While conventional storage systems involve compact ice generation, these days ice slurry systems are introduced for transporting flowable ice in pipelines.

Possibilities of ice slurry systems onboard fishing vessels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Rapid handling of seafood at low temperatures are important for the quality and shelf life of the catch. There are several different methods onboard fishing vessels, including no chilling, ice storage, refrigerated sea water (RSW) and ice slurry chilling.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Residual‐Lithium‐to‐LiF Conversion Enables a LiF–Fluorinated Carbon Interphase for Reconstruction‐Resistant Ni‐Rich Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fluorine‐rich acrylate monomer (PFHEA) was solvent‐free applied to NCM90 and thermally decomposed under Ar to convert residual lithium into LiF and form a pre‐built LiF/fluorinated amorphous carbon (LiF/FC) interphase. The LiF/FC layer suppresses NiO rock‐salt reconstruction and microcrack propagation, lowers interfacial resistance, and improves Li ...

Dipole‐Engineered Conductive Additives for Ultrastable Interphase Evolution in High‐Areal‐Capacity Silicon Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In the work reported herein, dipole‐engineered sulfonated carbon nanofibers enable conductive additives to actively regulate interphase formation in silicon anodes. Polar sulfonyl groups guide electrolyte decomposition to form a compact LiF‐rich interphase while promoting robust integration with silicon.

Nanoencapsulated essential oils embedded in ice improve the quality and shelf life of fresh whole seabream stored on ice

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Ice containing essential oils (EOs) nanoencapsulated in β-cyclodextrins (β-CD) (named as EOs+β-CD ice) was used for stunning/slaughtering by hypothermia in ice slurry, and for ice storage of gilthead seabream.
