Effect of storage in slurry ice on the quality and shelf life of farmed turbot (Psetta maxima)

open access: yes, 2006
9 páginas, 5 figuras, 2 tablasThe application of slurry ice, a binary mixture of small spherical ice crystals surrounded by seawater at subzero temperature, is a potentially new preservation method for farmed turbot (Psetta maxima), a flat fish species ...

Purification, Fluorescent Labeling, and Detyrosination of Mammalian Cell Tubulin for Biochemical Assays

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microtubules play essential roles in numerous cellular processes. All microtubules are built from the protein tubulin, yet individual microtubules can differ spatially and temporally due to their tubulin isotype composition and post‐translational modifications (PTMs).

A cold storage air conditioning system with energy-efficient supercooled water ice slurry generation by using heat recovery and regeneration [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Ice slurry cold storage technology using supercooled water is considered one of the most efficient methods. In traditional systems, to prevent ice crystal blockage in the supercooled water exchanger, the water from ice tank is typically heated to 0.5°C ...

Protocol for Reconstituting Adaptor‐Mediated Activation of Full‐Length Kinesin‐1

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Kinesin‐1 is a member of the kinesin superfamily that plays an essential role in intracellular cargo transport. In the absence of cargo, Kinesin‐1 exhibits low motor activity due to autoinhibition. Multiple studies have demonstrated that adaptor proteins, which link cargos to Kinesin‐1, can activate Kinesin‐1 by releasing the autoinhibition ...

Evolution of quality characteristics and bacterial community in vacuum-packed soft-shell mud crab during slurry ice cooling and cold storage

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
Slurry ice is known to extend the shelf life of refrigerated seafood, yet its specific impact on the quality and microbiota of soft-shell mud crabs during storage has not been well characterized.

The Influence of Drosophila Spire and Myosin V During Mid‐Oogenesis Is Independent of Their Direct Interaction

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cooperativity between cytoskeletal proteins is crucial for spatiotemporal coordination in biological processes, like oogenesis. In mammalian and Drosophila oogenesis, proper assembly and function of actin networks require coordination between actin assembly factors Spire and formins, as well as actin‐associated proteins like myosins and Rab ...

Aqueous Supercapacitor with Wide‐Temperature Operability and over 100,000 Cycles Enabled by Water‐in‐Salt Electrolyte

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
This study presents a symmetric supercapacitor with activated carbon electrodes and a “water‐in‐salt” electrolyte (WiSE) based on lithium perchlorate, offering over 100,000 cycles with over 90 % capacity retention. The supercapacitor operates efficiently from −20 to 80 °C, enhancing performance, stability, and all‐season operability.

Resource‐Efficient Electrodes with Metallized Woven‐Glass‐Grid Current Collectors for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
The use of metallized glass‐based woven‐grids instead of metal foils as current collectors for LIBs leads to a significant reduction in metal usage by over 90 % and weight savings of more than 80 %, resulting in an 11 % increase in specific energy at the cell level. Abstract A novel class of resource‐efficient, woven‐glass‐grid current collectors (CCs)
