The Stabilization of High‐Nitrogen Systems: 10 Catenated Nitrogen Chain

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Improving the understanding of high‐nitrogen materials. ABSTRACT High‐nitrogen materials have attracted intense interest in recent decades due to their unique chemical, physical, and biological properties. Stabilizing high‐nitrogen materials is often challenging as they become more unstable with increasing nitrogen catenation and nitrogen mass ...

Successive Azide and DNA Functionalization for Reversible and Controlled Association of Single‐Wall Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A newly synthesized bifunctional azide—diazonium linker allows robust one‐step introduction of azido groups to single‐wall carbon nanotubes. Versatility of the azido groups as reactive handles is demonstrated by further derivatization with 6‐carboxyfluorescein and oligonucleotides.

Silica‐Supported Mononuclear Methyl‐Platinum Complexes Stabilized by Trimethylphosphine—Synthesis, Structure, and Reactions Under Reducing Conditions

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The article describes the synthesis and molecular transformations of a silica‐supported bis(phosphine)methylplatinum(II) complex under reactive (H2, CO) and inert gas atmospheres. The focus lies on the stabilizing effect of the sterically non‐demanding trimethylphosphine ligand, which alters the reactivity of the surface sites, compared to other ...

Development of a Mechanically Regenerating Desublimator for Freeze‐Drying Systems in the Food Industry

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Thermal defrosting limits desublimator efficiency in freeze‐drying. This review and case study compares thermal versus mechanical regeneration, links frost properties and external heat transfer to energy demand, and summarizes pilot‐scale scraping results enabling single‐unit, continuous lyophilization.

Dynamics and spatiotemporal variability of ice streams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Ice sheets evolve over a wide range of time scales. They grow by snowfall, spread gravitationally, and diminish through melting or iceberg calving at the ice-sheet margin.

Measurement and modelling: Siple ice streams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The Siple coast ice streams serve as an important observational field site for the study of the West Antarctic mass balance. Though the importance of ice stream dynamics has been understood for 15 years, the understanding of flow mechanisms is still ...

Oceanic and volcanic heat converge in a subglacial channel of the Kamb Ice Stream in West Antarctica

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Melting from oceanic heat and basal lubrication from subglacial freshwater are fundamental elements of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet mass balance that are poorly constrained. The ice streams feeding the Ross Ice Shelf grounding line periodically start and
