Wetting of Surface Grafted Hydrophilic‐b‐Hydrophobic Block Copolymer Brushes
The wetting properties of surface grafted diblock copolymer brushes are influenced by the thickness of the hydrophilic bottom block and the hydrophobic top block. The surface adapts in presence of water and the contact angles of the bottom block shine through. Abstract The wetting of diblock copolymer brushes by water is studied.

Bioorthogonal Engineering of Cellular Microenvironments Using Isonitrile Ligations
Highly selective chemistries are required for fabrication and post‐cross–linking modification of cell‐encapsulating hydrogels used in tissue engineering applications. Isonitrile ligation reactions represent a promising class of bioorthogonal chemistries for engineering hydrogel‐based cellular microenvironments. Isonitrile‐based hydrogels are stable and

Dynamics of thermally induced ice streams simulated with a higher-order flow model [PDF]
We use a new discretization technique to solve the higher-order thermomechanically coupled equations of glacier evolution. We find that under radially symmetric continuum equations, small perturbations in symmetry due to the discretization are sufficient

Cell Membrane Vesicle Camouflaged Artificial Cells
Artificial cells camouflaged with a cell membrane vesicle coating are able to assemble into synthetic aggregates that exhibit rudimentary communication capabilities. Additionally, when these artificial cells are equipped with antioxidant capabilities, they are able to protect the intracellular homeostasis in HepG2 cells present in semi‐synthetic ...

Greenland Ice Sheet and rising sea level in a worst-case climate change scenario [PDF]
Models that simulate sheet flow in the Greenland Ice Sheet balance forces at gridpoints in the map plan, which allows only a slow response to changes in climate forcing.

Synthetic cells are engineered herein to respond to an external chemical messenger by the activation of intracellular catalysis. The chemical messenger molecules are catalytically generated by an extracellular enzyme or a mineral surface, whereas the intracellular catalysis emerges via direct enzyme activation or via protein refolding.

The shallow shelf approximation as a "sliding law" in a thermomechanically coupled ice sheet model
The shallow shelf approximation is a better ``sliding law'' for ice sheet modeling than those sliding laws in which basal velocity is a function of driving stress.

High‐Throughput Microfluidic‐Mediated Assembly of Layer‐By‐Layer Nanoparticles
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of polymer films on nanoparticle (NP) surfaces is a promising technique for targeted drug delivery. Despite its success in preclinical mouse models, a current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) compliant, clinical‐scale production method has been lacking.

Ice streaming in the Laurentide Ice Sheet: A first comparison between data-calibrated numerical model output and geological evidence [PDF]
[1] Despite the importance of rapidly-flowing ice streams to ice sheet mass balance, their incorporation into numerical ice sheet models is a major scientific challenge.
