Amyloidogenic Peptide Fragments Designed From Bacterial Collagen‐like Proteins Form Hydrogel
This study identified amyloidogenic sequence motifs in bacterial collagen‐like proteins and exploited these to design peptides that self‐assemble into β‐sheet fibers and form hydrogels. One hydrogel supported healthy fibroblast growth, showing promise for biocompatible materials. Our work demonstrates that bacterial sequences can be harnessed to create

Effect of velocity in icing scaling tests [PDF]
This paper presents additional results of a study first published in 1999 to determine the effect of scale velocity on scaled icing test results. Reference tests were made with a 53.3-cm-chord NACA 0012 airfoil model in the NASA Glenn Icing Research Tunnel at an airspeed of 67 m/s, an MVD of 40 microns, and an LWC of 0.6 g/cu m.

We report phosphine‐oxide interlayers for wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells, in which tuned P = O Lewis basicity enables selective passivation of buried NiOx/perovskite interfaces and introduces interfacial dipoles that strengthen the built‐in field.

Evaluation of a pneumatic boot deicing system on a general aviation wing model [PDF]
The aerodynamic characteristics of a typical modern general aviation airfoil were investigated with and without a pneumatic boot ice protection system. The ice protection effectiveness of the boot was studied.

Estimation of Velocities in Ice Hockey Collisions
Concussions occur frequently as a result of tackles in ice hockey. Analysis of video material may provide an understanding of the relationship between the kinematics of collisions and the risk for injury. In this thesis, two video analysis methods were used to estimate the impact velocities of 22 ice hockey tackles that resulted in concussions.

Finite Element Analysis of Small Scale Continuous Calving [PDF]
Ice shelves are floating ice masses, which are sensitive to climate changes. The main mechanisms for the mass loss of ice shelves around Antarctica are basal melting and calving.
