Prioritizing Shark, Ray, and Chimaera Conservation in Rapidly Changing Polar Waters
Polar sharks, rays, and chimaeras face growing pressures from changing sea‐ice conditions, expanding fisheries, and limited protection. Our assessment highlights where critical habitats occur and how Important Shark and Ray Areas (ISRAs) can support more targeted conservation and fisheries management across the Arctic and Antarctic.

The large estuaries can present long narrow branches called subestuaries or tidal creeks. These types of subsystems are distributed along the Uruguayan coast of the Río de la Plata estuary and are very important as nursery and refuge areas for fish.

The management of water resources is a complex issue, and the conservation of fish and fishery resources is a growing challenge given the increase in the number of hydroelectric projects in Brazilian river basins. This study describes the fragmentation of the Tocantins–Araguaia River Basin resulting from the installation of hydroelectric plants in ...

Sympatric Speciation of Tibetan Loaches (Triplophysa) Driven by Dietary Niche Specialization
The sympatric speciation of Tibetan loaches in a semi‐enclosed postglacial lake on the Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau, which is driven by the synergistic mechanism of the gut microbiomes and dietary specialization. ABSTRACT The Qinghai‐Tibeta Plateau is a hotspot for endemic fish biodiversity.

Mangrove estuaries are a key ecosystem for coastal fishery resources, especially in developing nations such as Malaysia. Using identical sampling points and duration for both eDNA metabarcoding and conventional sampling, fish community analyses highlight shared and unique taxa, variable taxonomic resolution, and the complementarity of eDNA ...

The presence of different mesohabitats in freshwater systems can support higher local and regional fish richness. Thus, their suppression by dam-building represents a real threat to aquatic biodiversity. Our aims were: (1) to survey the fish fauna in two

Abstract Stylephoriformes are a morphologically bizarre lineage of deep‐sea fishes, currently represented by a single extant species, Stylephorus chordatus, the so‐called tube‐eye fish. The phylogenetic relationships of the Stylephoriformes were extensively debated until recent genomic studies proposed a sister‐group relationship with the Gadiformes ...

ABSTRACT Beta diversity is an important descriptor of community structuring and it plays a crucial role for understanding the patterns and processes shaping biodiversity at multiple spatial extents. We investigated the influence of local, spatial, landscape factors and niche characteristics on fish beta diversity along the Acre River in Acre, Brazil ...
