Anxiety disorders are a frequent psychiatric condition in patients with epilepsy. Anticipatory anxiety of seizures (AAS) is described as a daily persistent fear or excessive worry of having a seizure. AAS seems to be related to “subjective ictal anxiety”

Peri‐ictal heart rate variability parameters as surrogate markers of seizure severity
Epilepsia, 2020This study aims at defining objective parameters reflecting the severity of peri‐ictal autonomic changes and their relation to post‐ictal generalized electroencephalography (EEG) suppression (PGES), with the view that such changes could be detected by ...

Overnight Ictal Magnetoencephalography
Neurology Clinical Practice, 2021The added value of magnetoencephalography (MEG) in the presurgical evaluation for drug-resistant epilepsy is well-recognised 1-4. However, MEG remains mostly limited to analysis of interictal epileptic activity 1,5. Seizures are uncommonly captured due to logistical considerations despite mounting evidence of the value of ictal MEG in localising the ...

Summary: Unilateral high pitched tinnitus was the sole epileptic ictal manifestation of a 45‐year‐old woman. Electrographic seizures originated from the contralateral midtemporal area and consistently correlated with tinnitus. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated a lesion involving the superior temporal gyrus and inferior portion of the supramarginal

2 cases of ictal hemiparesis in adults are presented. The clinical picture was recurrent transient hemiparesis with contralateral focal hemispheric discharge. The etiology in such cases seems to be a stimulation of the second somatosensory and/or the supplementary motor areas.

The purpose of this study was to describe a series of patients with ictal crying to estimate its occurrence and characterize the clinical features and the underlying etiology. We retrospectively reviewed all the long-term video-EEG reports from Jefferson Comprehensive Epilepsy Center over a 12-year period (2004-2015) for the occurrence of the terms "cry"
