Laser Ablation Ionization Mass Spectrometry: A Space Prototype System for In Situ Sulphur Isotope Fractionation Analysis on Planetary Surfaces

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2021
The signatures of element isotope fractionation can be used for the indirect identification of extant or extinct life on planetary surfaces or their moons.

The Diverse Solar Phase Curves of Distant Icy Bodies. II. The Cause of the Opposition Surges and Their Correlations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We collect well-measured opposition surge properties for many icy bodies orbiting the Sun (mostly from our own observations) plus for many icy moons, resulting in a data base of surface and orbital properties for 52 icy bodies. (1) We put forward four criteria for determining whether the surge is being dominated by shadow hiding (SH) or coherent ...

Sustainability in Energy Companies Under the Lens of Cultural Pressures: When Do We Talk of Greenwashing?

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Listed companies allocate resources to various renewable energy and green innovation initiatives driven by economic and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. Corporations experience increased pressure from stakeholders, potentially hindering the concurrent achievement of economic and ESG goals and leading to phenomena such as

Insights into the spatio‐temporal variability of spawning in a territorial coastal fish by combining observations, modelling and literature review

open access: yesFisheries Oceanography, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 70-90, January 2023., 2023
Abstract In bipartite life cycle fishes, spawning represents the onset of propagules dispersal, with eggs and larvae experiencing anisotropic transport and high mortality rates, before eventually metamorphosing and settling. Hence, early‐life stages operate as bottlenecks for population demography by strongly constraining recruitment.

Turning the Camera Off in Virtual Interactions Can Harm the Reputation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Social Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Virtual communication on digital‐meeting platforms is increasingly common in work, educational and other settings. One contentious issue concerns camera use. Some suggest keeping the camera off to mitigate ‘Zoom fatigue’, whereas others argue that keeping the camera on is a sign of dedication and engagement. Here, we conducted an experiment to

Measuring Ganymede’s Librations with Laser Altimetry

open access: yesGeosciences, 2019
Jupiter’s moon Ganymede might be in possession of a subsurface ocean located between two ice layers. However, from Galileo data it is not possible to unambiguously infer the thickness and densities of the individual layers.

Contamination analysis of Arctic ice samples as planetary field analogs and implications for future life-detection missions to Europa and Enceladus

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Missions to detect extraterrestrial life are being designed to visit Europa and Enceladus in the next decades. The contact between the mission payload and the habitable subsurface of these satellites involves significant risk of forward contamination ...

Global artificial light masks biologically important light cycles of animals

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
We document the importance of low‐light conditions in 136 animal species and then translate the new world atlas of skyglow, which reports artificial night sky brightness, into estimates of anthropogenic illuminance (that is, artificial light reaching Earth's surface).

Harnessing Jasminum Bioactive Compounds: Updated Insights for Therapeutic and Food Preservation Innovations

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
Jasminum bioactives improve food preservation by providing antimicrobial and antioxidant effects, especially when incorporated into active packaging, edible films, and nanoformulations that enhance stability and controlled release. They also offer many pharmacological benefits, including anti‐inflammatory, neuroprotective, and wound‐healing properties.
