Fairness requires deliberation: The primacy of economic over social considerations

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
While both economic and social considerations of fairness and equity play an important role in financial decision-making, it is not clear which of these two motives is more primal and immediate and which one is secondary and slow.

Chromatin accessibility landscape and active transcription factors in primary human invasive lobular and ductal breast carcinomas

open access: yesBreast Cancer Research, 2022
Background Invasive lobular breast carcinoma (ILC), the second most prevalent histological subtype of breast cancer, exhibits unique molecular features compared with the more common invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC).

Direct Photocurrent Detection of Optical Vortex Based on the Orbital Photo Galvanic Effect: Progress, Challenge, and Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Direct orbital angular momentum (OAM) detection through the orbital photogalvanic effect offers a scalable route for integrated optoelectronics. This perspective evaluates symmetry‐driven material selection and demonstrates how electrode matrices enable the resolution of complex, mixed OAM modes.

Determinants of judgment and decision making quality: the interplay between information processing style and situational factors

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
A framework is presented to better characterize the role of individual differences in information processing style and their interplay with contextual factors in determining decision making quality. In Experiment 1, we show that individual differences in

SpatialESD: Spatial Ensemble Domain Detection in Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Spatial transcriptomics (ST) measures gene expression while preserving spatial context within tissues. One of the key tasks in ST analysis is spatial domain detection, which remains challenging due to the complex structure of ST data and the varying performance of individual clustering methods. To address this, we propose SpatialESD, a Spatial

Learners' approaches, motivation and patterns of problem-solving on lines and angles in geometry using augmented reality

open access: yesSmart Learning Environments, 2020
There are several concepts in 2D Geometry that require understanding their application in the real practical world. However, in classrooms, such concepts are often taught without the analysis of the learners’ realization and interpretation of the ...

Reparameterization Invariance for Collinear Operators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We discuss restrictions on operators in the soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) which follow from the ambiguity in the decomposition of collinear momenta and the freedom in the choice of light-like basis vectors $n$ and $\bar n$.

Cells Dynamically Adapt Their Nuclear Volumes and Proliferation Rates During Single to Multicellular Transitions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It is currently not well understood how cells regulate basic properties, e.g., volume and mechanics within dense multicellular environments like tumors. Here, we show that different cell types of cancer and also normal cells largely decrease their nuclear and cellular volumes in emerging cell clusters and that this is partly driven by cell cycle shifts.
