Idempotents and structures of rings
We study a ring containing a complete set of orthogonal idempotents as a generalized matrix ring via its Peirce decomposition. We focus on the case where some of the underlying bimodule homomorphisms are zero.

Idempotents in Matrix Rings [PDF]
Let R be a commutative, von Neumann regular ring and M n ( R ) {M_n}(R) the ring of n × n n \times n matrices over R. What are the idempotents in M n (

A method for constructing idempotents in a unital algebra
A method is proposed for constructing idempotents in a unital algebra 𝒜 using n arbitrary idempotents P1,...,Pn from this algebra. The properties of the resulting idempotents P = P(P1,...,Pn) are investigated; for n = 2 and n = 3, explicit forms of the ...

The Relationship between E-Semigroups and R-Semigroups
A semigroup is called an E-semigroup (R-semigroup) if the set of all idempotents (the set of all regular elements) forms a subsemigroup. In this paper, we introduce the concept of V-semigroups and establish the relationship between the three classes of ...

Some homological aspects of idempotents in idempotented algebras [PDF]
We study special idempotents (as described by Bushnell and Kutzko) and split idempotents in the context of module and derived categories for idempotented algebras. We then characterize these concepts for path algebras of quivers.

Can we repudiate ontology altogether?
Abstract Ontological nihilists repudiate ontology altogether, maintaining that ontological structure is an unnecessary addition to our theorizing. Recent defenses of the view involve a sophisticated combination of highly expressive but ontologically innocent languages combined with a metaphysics of features—non‐objectual, complete but modifiable states

The local geometry of idempotent Schur multipliers
A Schur multiplier is a linear map on matrices which acts on its entries by multiplication with some function, called the symbol. We consider idempotent Schur multipliers, whose symbols are indicator functions of smooth Euclidean domains.

Semigroups with inverse skeletons and Zappa-Sz'{e}p products [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to study semigroups possessing $E$-regular elements, where an element $a$ of a semigroup $S$ is {em $E$-regular} if $a$ has an inverse $a^circ$ such that $aa^circ,a^circ a$ lie in $ Esubseteq E(S)$. Where $S$ possesses `enough'

Nonnegative Idempotent Matrices [PDF]
Elementary ideas in the theory of partially ordered linear algebras are used to describe the structure of nonnegative idempotent matrices. In particular, we obtain a kind of “spectral decomposition” theorem for such matrices.
