Identity and Redistribution [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2009
This paper models the interaction between individuals’ identity choices and redistribution. Both redistributive policies and identity choices are endogenous, and there might be multiple equilibria. The model is applied to ethnicity and social class. In an equilibrium with high taxes, the poor identify as poor and favor high taxes.

Bernoulli Number Identities from Quantum Field Theory and Topological String Theory [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Number Theory and Physics, Volume 7 (2013) Number 2, 225 - 249, 2004
We present a new method for the derivation of convolution identities for finite sums of products of Bernoulli numbers. Our approach is motivated by the role of these identities in quantum field theory and string theory. We first show that the Miki identity and the Faber-Pandharipande-Zagier (FPZ) identity are closely related, and give simple unified ...

A bijection proof of the Capelli's identity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this article, a short combinatorial proof of the Capelli's identity is given. It also leads to an easy proof of the Capelli--Cauchy--Binet identity, a more general form of Capelli's identity. With the technique introduced, the Turnbull's identity can be proven by sum with signs.

The AFLT $q$-Morris constant term identity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
It is well-known that the Selberg integral is equivalent to the Morris constant term identity. More generally, Selberg type integrals can be turned into constant term identities for Laurent polynomials. In this paper, by extending the Gessel--Xin method of the Laurent series proof of constant term identities, we obtain an AFLT type $q$-Morris constant ...

On the q-binomial identities involving the Legendre symbol modulo 3 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
I use polynomial analogue of the Jacobi triple product identity together with the Eisenstein formula for the Legendre symbol modulo 3 . to prove six identities involving the $q$-binomial coefficients. These identities are then extended to the new infinite hierarchies of q-series identities by means of the special case of Bailey's lemma.

Toward Trustworthy Identity Tracing via Multi-attribute Synergistic Identification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Identity tracing is a technology that uses the selection and collection of identity attributes of the object to be tested to discover its true identity, and it is one of the most important foundational issues in the field of social security prevention.

Generalization of five q-series identities of Ramanujan and unexplored weighted partition identities [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Ramanujan recorded five interesting q-series identities in a section that is not as systematically arranged as the other chapters of his second notebook. These five identities do not seem to have acquired enough attention. Recently, Dixit and the third author found a one-variable generalization of one of the aforementioned five identities.

On a pair of identities from Ramanujan's lost notebook [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Combinatorics Volume 16, Number 3 (2012), 591-607, 2019
Using a pair of two variable series-product identities recorded by Ramanujan in the lost notebook as inspiration, we find some new identities of similar type. Each identity immediately implies an infinite family of Rogers-Ramanujan type identities, some of which are well-known identities from the literature.

Identity, identity politics, and neoliberalism

open access: yesPanoeconomicus, 2014
With the intensification of neoliberalism, it is useful to examine how some individuals might cope with the irrationality of the system. Neoliberalism cloaks the execution of the corporate agenda behind rhetorical manipulation that advocates for limited government.

A new Fibonacci identity and its associated summation identities [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We derive a new Fibonacci identity. This single identity subsumes important known identities such as those of Catalan, Ruggles, Halton and others, as well as standard general identities found in the books by Vajda, Koshy and others. We also derive several binomial and ordinary summation identities arising from this identity; in particular we obtain a ...
