Abstract Identity politics is a particularly slippery political concept and in Chapter 2, various ways in which it may be conceptualized are scrutinized. It is argued that the lack of content-specificity in group mobilization-based conceptions renders them insufficiently distinctive, and a recognition-based conception is promoted instead.
