The seal louse Echinophthirius horridus has uniquely shaped setae that may reduce drag during its host's dives. Using numerical simulations, this study demonstrates that their natural inclination promotes vortex formation, minimizing friction and energy loss. These findings provide insights into biological surface adaptations and may inspire the design

The Sampling Distribution of the Total Correlation for Multivariate Gaussian Random Variables
The sampling distribution of the total correlation (TC) for a d-dimensional standardized multivariate Gaussian random variable with an identity covariance matrix is derived. It is shown to be the distribution of a sum of generalized beta random variables.

Identity in modal logic theorem proving [PDF]
THINKER is an automated natural deduction first-order theorem proving program. This paper reports on how it was adapted so as to prove theorems in modal logic. The method employed is an “indirect semantic method”, obtained by considering the semantic conditions involved in being a valid argument in these modal logics.

DECENT is a deep learning method that enhances noninvasive preimplantation genetic testing by accurately reconstructing embryonic copy number variations (CNVs) from cell‐free DNA in spent embryo culture media. By mitigating maternal contamination, DECENT improves diagnostic accuracy, even with high contamination levels, offering a reliable, noninvasive

The existence of affine-periodic solutions for nonlinear impulsive differential equations
In this paper, we study the existence of affine-periodic solutions of nonlinear impulsive differential equations. The affine-periodic solutions have the form x(t+T)=Qx(t) $x(t+T)=Qx(t)$ with some nonsingular matrix Q.

De Novo Reconstruction of 3D Human Facial Images from DNA Sequence
This study introduces Difface, a novel deep‐learning model for reconstructing 3D facial images only from DNA data. By integrating transformer networks, spiral convolutions, and a diffusion model, Difface directly aligns high‐dimensional SNP data with 3D facial structures.

An unconventional magnetic order is observed in exfoliated CrBr3 layers, characterized by vertically correlated planar magnetic sub‐domains. Magnetic force microscopy, ab initio calculations, and micromagnetic simulations indicate that these sub‐domains arise from stacking faults modifying interlayer exchange coupling.

Unusual Thermal Transport in Few‐Layer Van der Waals Antiferromagnet CrOCl
Thermal transport serves as an ultra‐sensitive probe for detecting the magnetic order in 2D materials. Using the suspended thermal bridge method enhanced by Wheatstone bridges, it is, for the first time, observed anomalous critical behavior in few‐layer CrOCl near its Néel temperature.

A magneto‐mechanical metamaterial‐based structure that simultaneously exhibits programmable nonreversibility and nonreciprocity. These cause substantial transitions in static mechanical properties, such as Poisson's ratio and stiffness, leading to stark changes in energy absorption.
