Idiolectal Conceptual Analysis
Balkan Journal of PhilosophyWe can distinguish between conceptual analysis of terms in the communal language and conceptual analysis of terms in one’s own idiolect. The former can be called “communal conceptual analysis”, whereas the latter can be called “idiolectal conceptual analysis”.

In this paper I will compare some of Dummett and Davidson’s claims on the problem of communication and idiolects: how can we understand each other if we use different idiolects? First I define the problem, giving the alternative theses of (I) the priority of language over idiolects and (II) the priority of idiolects over language.

The Idiolect as an Example of the Vitality of the Dialect

Seria „Studia Dialektologiczne / Studia Gwarowe”On the basis of the idiolect, an attempt is made to find out how and to what extent the change of the linguistic environment affects the dialect speaker’s speech. The research focuses on the analysis of the idiolect of Maria Vilіura, a resident of the Lviv region who has been outside her dialect environment for a long time.
